Hello my fiends and fellow Star Trek fans. There is a group that is trying to raise fan support to bring a new series to the small screen. They are wanting to show CBS there is a demand for a new show. They have now started a Kickstarter for it. Take a look and see what yall think.

I don't see how this series could ever be achievable unless CBS and the actors Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Tim Russ at a minimum decided to run with it. That said while the Titan books are one of my least favourite book series in the last decade, I must say I do hope they are successful in their endeavour. New Trek set in the standard time line (not JJ Abrams one) would be welcome by many fans especially those who are not fond of the new direction Trek has gone.

Personally if it was me I would've tried my hand at kickstarting either of the following ideas:

[fieldset=Voyager]Voyager Relaunch - Following the novels by Kristen Beyer where Voyager leading a small fleet returns to the Delta Quadrant to establish new friends but most importantly find out what has happened to the Borg, if they truly are gone as seen in the Destiny books. No Borg is a good thing, they have been overused to the point of boredom since Best of Both Worlds.

They are also awesome space fighters on the Achilles. :excited:

Regulars - Robert Beltran, Roxann Dawson, Robert Duncan McNeill, Robert Picardo, Garrett Wang, Dwight Schultz and Jeri Ryan along with new actors to portray new roles like the Fleet Commander, Councillor etc
Guests - Ethan Phillips, Tarik Ergin (Lieutenant Ayala) and others seen in the Voyager series and new ones as well.[/fieldset]

[fieldset=Typhoon Pact]Typhoon Pact - Set aboard four ships (Enterprise-E, DS9, Titan and Dax's ship) they could tell the story of the Typhoon Pact's aggression against the Khitomer Accord Alliance. Each episode would have one or more crews facing this, bring in old favourites and new enemies. Explore the different cultures rarely seen or only mentioned (Gorn, Tholian etc) and have a variety and freedom never before seen in any Trek series or movie to date.

Regulars - Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Tim Russ, Avery Brooks, Cirroc Lofton, Alexander Siddig, Colm Meaney, Armin Shimerman, Nana Visitor, Nicole de Boer, Michelle Forbes plus new ones to fill new character roles on all four ships.
Guests - Max Grodénchik, Andrew Robinson, Rene Auberjonois, Jeffrey Combs plus new ones for characters plus some older ones that were minor in the series that could reprise those roles but in a more prominent way. [/fieldset]

Again both of these would have the same actor issues that a purely Titan series would have. If a particular actor couldn't sign on for whatever reasons the project would probably be a no go.

I'm fairly certain it's obvious to CBS that there's a large demand for a new trek series, but whether that will go with the normal Star Trek or the JJ Trek route is debatable. If they did something, maybe with a minor character (such as following up on Molly and Kirayoshi Obrien), it might work. The main problem I see is that a good portion of the newer fan base thinks JJ Trek is the best of the entire franchise and won't want to see a return to what I call real Star Trek (non JJ), and CBS knows this. I think we're gonna see more JJ Trek movies before we see a new series, and whether it will return to what it should be or stay with JJ if it does come to a new series is still pretty vague

I don't have a problem with JJ Trek. I like it, but I am also a fan of the old Trek.

To me as an open minded fan I can't see why they can't do the movies for JJ Trek and a series for the older TNG/VOY type Trek. But again I am not thinking on the business level. Still I think both would make them a profit. Hey I would even like to see ENT renewed. I was one of the fans that enjoyed that series for the most part (ignoring the bad last episode) the season was picking up when it was cancelled. I want to see Kzinti and Shran.

Enterprise was OK, but they really should have done something with the Earth-Romulan War instead of the Temporal Cold War. And they shouldn't have met the Ferengi. That episode made me want to do mean things to Rick Berman with a sharp object. Other than that, and having some reference to Alpha Centauri (as that planet has been included in the founding members of the federation in most things I've seen or read, except Enterprise), it would probably do ok.

Well, at least they wrote it in to where the crew never seen the Ferengi. I agree that the Temporal Cold War was a bad idea. The Romulan War would have been a far better idea. They looked as though they were going that route when the show was cancelled. I would love to see them do a movie or a series of movies to finally tell that chapter in Earth's "history".
