I like it, although I'm wondering why they would replace all the pylons

Now I want to introduce one of the Federation Starbases. The Texture is oriented to Fleet Operations.
The Model is for DS9r and Defence Line. In the Past, I build the Model for STA2. The Texture isn't finished.

Is that (relatively) small dome on the pad an observatory?

Huh, I didn't even realize that was on the original. I wonder what it is.

I introduce my Interpretation of the Seraphim Class. In Comparison to the original I have decide to model a few parts rounder. I make new Nachelles and Impuls Engines. I tryed to make the Hangarpod more Akira like and add a Railgun or something else. Because of the seraphim is very big i modelled the ship with details, extrude a few structures:

Looks very good! A great addition to your DS9R fleet. Have you some kind of starships list?

Why the big letters? That's like screaming for me.
Hey, I'am ok, it's your opinion. and that's ok. "It hurt's" is no attack to your opinion.
In Germany we say sometimes "das tut weh" if the work you made isn't good, that's all.
Sorry for potential linguistic mistakes by me.
    All good?

The Nacelles in the Original I found to clumsy, but I can they model closer to the original.

I think the large letters were to emphasise that it was his view alone, which was in response to your "nothing is better then the original" which came across a bit sarcastic.

    Moving on.

As the original builder of the Seraphim I had intended to keep out of this, but in the interests of keeping civil and applying constructive criticism here's my views.

Firstly, well done with the mesh work. I spent a bit of time wondering if it were actually a modification of my mesh, before I realised it was actually better quality (and before anybody jumps in to protest, it was one of my first low poly Trek meshes and I am well aware of its failings, I hope to rebuild it some day).

Secondly, the nacelles. They are very nice nacelles, but they just look like Sovereign nacelles which takes away from the scale of the Seraphim. That said, I agree with the TUB about the current Seraphim nacelles, they do look clumsy - I was still very much in my "rectangular" phase back then. If I were to do it now I would probably radically alter them (but keeping the auxiliary deflectors).

Thirdly - this is a BIG ship. Jetfreak did a nice picture somewhere which shows this very well. We're talking the Super Star Destroyer of Star Trek. If you look at an SSD you'll see that it actually looks cleaner and sleeker than a Star Destroyer, not because it has less surface detail, but because that detail is proportionally much smaller. A good example on the Seraphim is the phaser arrays - whilst they are a significant feature on a smaller ship they are barely a blip on a texture on the Seraphim. So whilst I love a lot of the additional physical detailing you've done on the ship, a lot of it is misplaced because it makes the ship look smaller.

    Now for My opinions.
    • I think you've done a nice piece of mesh work.
    • I love the grill work on the aft impulse engines, although I wish you'd done the same on the saucer engines.
    • The nacelles are good, but not keeping with the scale of the ship.
    • I like the "silos" and "piping" on the underside of the ship.
    • I love the additional emphasis of the hangers.
    • I don't like cut out section on the lower centre of the saucer.
    • I really don't like the railgun/spinal phaser/whatever it is. It just looks like it's been tacked on afterwards (which would never happen on such a large ship) and again, it really doesn't fit with the size of the ship (what does it shoot, Defiants?)
Essay complete, keep up the good work.

That was not my intention. Sorry for misunderstanding me.
Thank You for your detailed report.
And to the whole Seraphim-Team your Seraphim-Class is well done. The only reason to me, to rebuild the ship are more details in the mesh. I thought new Nacelles make the Ship more elegant and I didn't want a exact copy. Perhaps, I shouldn't call the ship Seraphim. I make the whole Saucer rounder, the ship smaller, so that the original Seraphim and the ship by me are different. So based on the Seraphim...
    And again, sorry for misunderstandings.

Now I finished the Model and Texture for the Beowolf Class, the original, mh I don't know. The Ship is for Defence Line too:

The Seraphim has new Nacelles: sera3.jpg

Very interesting concept mate, I like the beowolf being a yacht like vehicle for another class.
Also the new nacelles look a whole lot better and I like the idea of the Seraphim being like a sister class to the original. A little like the Nebula is to the Galaxy. Or more so the original Excelsior is to the Enterprise-B. A sort of sub class designed with a bit more of a specific purpose in mind. :D

This is a Diplomatic Ship, docked on the restored DS9. The Mesh is not by me, I don't know. I edited the Mesh and modeled new Nacelles and draw a new Texture.

That design was the Eros, a design I converted from BC a while back. Original designer was Atolm Azel (or something like that, someone help me out here please)
