• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I saw an article in the news about Comic-Con and was curious if anyone here has ever attended one of these? I always thought it would be fun, but just never did. I think we had a Star Trek Convention here many years ago, but don't think we've ever had a Comic-Con.

Have you attended one? Have fun? See cool things there? Meet any stars?

Attended some sort of Star Trek convention in Birmingham (UK) many many years ago. Saw a lot of uniforms, the chair of the Enterprise B, sat on the bridge of the original Enterprise (well, a set that looked like it anyway). It was like a Star Trek museum had been set up for a week. I was about ten at the time.
I also attended some SciFi convention weekend a few years back in Wales. To be honest it was boring as hell. There were several discussion panels a day, some more interesting than others. The people who played the two computers in Red Dwarf tried to do a comedy routine - it was embarrassing to watch, you could hear a pin drop at times. There were stands advertising different comics, games, and authors signing books. However the best bit was when we were queuing to get in - there was a Doctor and a Dalek doing a stand up comedy routine and they had us all in stitches.
My sister has done a couple of comic and film conventions in Cardiff, but I don't know much about them except she's rubbed shoulders with the original Starbuck.

I have never been to a Star Trek convention, but used to live in San Diego in California and would goto Comic Con, before it was cool :p. The last one that I went to was before the movie "The Watchmen" came out and they had the Owlship (the actual one from the movie) there on display. It looked pretty cool, and when you get close enough to it in person you can tell that it is just made out of fiberglass. But that aside it was still neat to get up close and personal with it.

In the old days of Comic Con it wasn't to commercial. You would just go, dress up and might meet a B list star or something. Go buy stuff at one of the booths and have fun with your friends.
