• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

All right guys, no joking here and this is the real thing.

Just recently I got an e-mail from the big man himself, Doug Drexler. Who has encouraged me to contribute to the well known Ships of the Line Calendars. (He even kindly visited my DevArt front page as well).

Everything is still preliminary for now, but I am currently negotiating an arrangement to feature one certain Seeker Class ship. If Doug likes it and get a thumbs up, I can begin doing some full scale renders which will pass judgement by Drexler's team.

@kjc733 and @Hellkite, I understand your co-ownership of the Seeker and Doug guarantees each of us will get due credit as renderer, modeler and designer.

Gentlemen, may the wind be at our backs...

Well done that man, about time your artistic talent got recognised by more than just our little corner of the web. I hope it all works out well.

I guess I'll need to get that higher poly Seeker finished!

I'm still a little overwhelmed myself. I'll definitely promise to give it my all and of course, it will be dedicated the community as well. All your support and encouragement has gotten me this far and for that, I thank you all.

Doug has also just sent his reply, and the Seeker Class gets his ok, with free reign on pretty much everything! :) For now, the baton seems to be in @kjc733 hands for the hi spec mesh. Take your time and be thorough, so no rush!

Lighting rig is pretty much done. But on second thought, the windows are a bit flat, I'll have to add some interior detail and some subtle shading.

Hey Jet, very cool news mate. It even forced me to log in and type haha.
If anyone can pull it off its you. Looking good so far.

A few days ago I hit a bit of a snag in the rendering side of things since I kinda overdid the spec maps. That set me back a bit, but it was worth it. Originally, I was planning an Insurrection-type scene where the Seeker passes through some Nebula haze. But I thought why obscure a perfectly good ship with some frikkin' clouds?

So I went back to basics and did a clear orbit shot with Pluto (courtesy of the new NASA pics). It's nothing fancy or anything, but I feel it gets our point across. Just a direct and clear image of our design with a backdrop grounded in reality, with extra space for the calendar of course... ;)

The tentative titles are "Pluto Flight" and "City Limits", but its definitely subject to change when I pass it on to Doug. I also chose to name the ship after the first Philippine president, hence the USS Aguinaldo markings. I couldn't resist throwing a bit of patriotic fervor.

Great work guys. The model and render both are truly fantastic. Can't wait to find out what Doug thinks of it.

Well guys, Doug has spoken...

The design and the image of the Seeker checks out fine. But he offers a word of caution. As expected, SOTL competition for submissions is very high and he recommends that I do a few more extras just in case the pic doesn't make the cut.

Its quite understandable, and I'm definitely up for it. :)

Well, I'm sure you'll manage to come up with a few alternatives.
Has Mr Drexler provided an end date? It is a 2018 calendar after all.

Well, there's no mention of a deadline yet so I guess its a non-issue for the time being. Who knows? Maybe I'm just too shy to ask him directly haha.

In any case, pic #2 is slowly forming. I have just completed a rough pass here.
