• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Well these days many people have Deviant-Art profiles and I thought it would be great to share around our profiles. I list as many MSFC Member Deviant-Art profiles on my own DA profile as possible.

My profile is: Majestic-MSFC on deviantART

What is yours?

Sorry, I don't have a Deviant-art page. I don't think my stuff qualifies.

It's great to see so many MSFC members on DA.

I should poke you with a stick for that one. If your work doesn't qualify then neither does mine. :p

Don't have a DeviantArt page. Should I? Always think of my stuff as DerivativeArt, lol. Other people do the models and backgrounds and other stuff and I just put 'em all together in a way which I like.

Isn't that the usual workflow in a production company? :)

Well that's basically what I do as well. But surely the composition process counts as art. I will be honest in saying around 70% of my entire gallery isn't my original work (as in done by scratch). They're just well put clusters of other people's models and generic/stock space pictures, credited of course.

The site's not all about the visual aspect too, you can also submit short stories, poems, etc.

What he said

Honestly TF I wouldn't think of it like that, putting the models together with background objects, lighting e.t.c is still art, regardless of whether you made everything you're using to make the pics yourself.

For example; a painting is still art, even if the artist didn't mix the paints or put the canvas together themselves

Deviantart is for any kind of artist. From traditional to digital, from photos to 3D models and even computer stuff.

So, is it free or anything like that? I'm interested.

Indeed it is free, I have a Premium Membership only due to winning it in a contest. I had a free one for ages and to be honest a premium one doesn't give you all that much new not worth it for the price they ask to be honest.

I was wondering, directing that at all you deviant-art MSFC members, would any of you be interested in a MSFC group on DA? I could set the group up but I would need people to run it for me. If anyone is interested in the group and/or helping to run it please let me know. :)

I'd be interested in the group. I like dA but I've never been apart of a group there. But hey, sign me up!

Would be awesome. I don't know anything about doing it (at least right now), but I'd definitely join up!
