Got somewhat of an unusual request here. I've got a hero ship for a fanfiction that I've been work on for several years. There are various iterations of the first two chapters have been posted here.

I've finally been giving some more thought to the hero ship, U.S.S. Carrollton, so that she can feasibly perform some of the tasks that she will be doing as the story progresses. I've got her capabilities worked out now, I believe, but I'm having trouble accomplishing a good visual, and my own attempts at drawing it out have been rubbish.

The Carrollton is an Akira. However, it's undergone a recent refit to the Coeur de Leon-subclass, an attack carrier refit that Starfleet initiated in 2394.

She's a tad longer than the average Akira. Because of her new weaponry and role in the vanguard of the Fleet, she's undergone a refit to upgrade her warp core (also nacelles etc.) to bring her to the forefront of Starfleet's defenses.

I've been hoping that someone here might take up the challenge? It's certainly more vague than the usual post here, so I'll understand if no one does.

Anyway, my take on the Normandy... I mean, Seeker.
(You'll see what I mean when you look at the pictures)

As for the Carrolton - how much of a refit? An NX refit style refit? Or a relatively minor refit?
My suggestion would be:
- Fill out the saucer leading edge.
- Put the hangers under the saucer in a "step" where the expanded secondary hull meets.
- Blend the secondary hull up into the booms, so the hull has a V in the rear edge.
- Luna class nacelles on forward swept pylons.

A relatively minor refit, all things considered. It's meant to be a wartime refit for a ship that's been on long-range exploration duty for a few years. Upgrading her with the newest technology for her new role in the vanguard of the fleet. The Carrollton is also one of the initial experiments with this refit (besides the namesake Coeur de Leon), so more expansive hull changes like you described would probably come on the later ships of the sub-class, which would probably become a separate class of its own, if they prove successful enough.

Other than some weapons changes - a higher emphasis on pulse defense, so you're looking at a post-TNG take on the phaser turrets - the hangers could use some expansion like you described, although the Akira already has a fairly effective through-deck design. I really do like the idea of sweeping the pylons forward with new nacelles though, I'd be interested to see what that looks like.
