• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hi Opetja,
The mesh of the Tug is ready. As the tug is very small, I think the textures don't need much details. Do you agree?

Model looks great :) I didn't request it btw :D I requested Obelisk haha which I managed to create somehow..without converting...

I have question...I convert from MOD to SOD Gorn ships for my A1 project... In storm 3D ships are working fine; however when I set Shipyard to build them (techtree edited to enable buidling), after LAUNCH GAME screen goes black...there's no orange loading screen...I don't know what's wrong :(

About your problem with your A1 project: Often there is something with the ODF file.

About your problem with your A1 project: Often there is something with the ODF file.

Aad's right; crash during load (including before the screen appears) means an ODF problem. I would check your modified files for missing quotes.

I converted Gorn Heavy Destroyer and some other Gorn ships for A1... I used kdestroy.odf and renamed it to gdx.odf..I didn't change anything in odf...If you are familiar with 1.3 patch for A1 you know you can press "enter" and type "edit" and than you can add ships, moons, etc... My model spawns without any problem using that tehnique

After that I edited kyard.odf and tech1.tt to enable building of that ship class..after LAUNCH GAME screen goes black and than I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to exit game...So unedited odf can't be problem..or game doesn't support model with 4 materials (and SFC models have much materials)

I also converted some Gorn ships from SFC and they work fine

The Balmung. I have always liked this design and have felt that they should do a show in the "lost era" so to speak. That time between The Motion Picture and The Next Generation. When the bulk of ships are using "C" era tech, and Excelsior is still new.

Or use the attachment feature. Attachments are free and you have unlimited space for attachments. It's the reason it exists, we don't like off site links as it does means MSFC is dependent on another server and site rather than our own. If a off site link goes down we have no control over it, or if it has a virus on it. Using attachments mean we can look into the situation and get it sorted.

Ok, no problem, thanks for info...Anyway, I decided to work from scratch..because I was adding ships, weapons, sounds at the same time...Now, I will be adding ships first...After that other things..

I found out the hard way. One ship or station at the time then start the game.
From experience 9 out of 10 it is the ODF file.
A comma or a dot to much can cause the crash.

This is more texture request..Do you know are there any textures which ressemble Terran Empire designations that could be applied to any ship class??

As far as I know, this is not possible. You have to edit the textures of every ship, you want to add to the fleet of the Terran Empire.
I have edited some ships for apocalypse_unleashed and it took a lot of time. If someone knows an easier way, I will be happy to learn it!

It's pretty easy in photoshop o turn a feddie ship into a Terran one. I have done it in the past. Although if you want to use a Feddie and Terran version on the same model you need to use Ms3D/3DS Max to change the texture allocation and re-export it as a new sod.

Or use the old SOD hacking trick. Since the SOD file format stores the texture references as ordinary strings, you can simply open the file with a text editor and change the file names. However, be aware that this only works if the new names have exactly the same length as the old names. Otherwise, you'll mess up the internal formatting of the SOD file.
