If anyone has access to one or all of these games could they send me a zipped/rar package of the sounds in the games. It would greatly help the mod as weapon sounds are pretty rare and I want all new sounds for all the weapons and effects ingame.

If you want to send it to my email, you can find it in my profile.

You might try asking Squire James over at the FileFront forums, as given his mods I'm fairly sure he has the games :)

I might do that if no one here can assist.

I dunno why but for some reason the sound/music archives can't actually be unzipped (with winzip or winrar at least) to gain access to the files...

Well I managed to download a few sounds from the internet from SFC2 or SFCOP. I also got a few sounds from SFC1. So it must be possible since I managed to download some off the net.

Hmm, well kudos to whoever did it, I've tried several times with no luck...

Well that idea is out after his childish tantrum on filefront forums so I am now relying on any of you guys who have the games. Even if you send me the zipped file that can't be unzipped and see if I can find a way to do it. I would be greatly appreciative of anything you can do.

I don't see the problem about the unzipping. sfcmusic is a normal .zip, unzips fine with winrar... as does sfcsounds.zip... and sfcvoice.zip. (SFC2, anyway).

It's about 125Mb of files just from sfcsounds... how do you want me to do this?

Whichever is the easiest for you.

You can use YouSendIt as it allows massive temp (7 days) storage of files.

If that fails I can get the cd's again and upload the files to my server if needed...

Wow, 6 year reply post, has to be a record. :D

Since I am coming up to a release I am in need for the sounds from these games. Unfortunately I lost all the sounds including my stock A2 YY install due a HD crash a few years ago.

If anyone has these and is willing to give me a copy please let me know. It would greatly benefit the project.

Thanks.

I'll see if I can find my copy of Orion Pirates. Might take a few days haha...

Thanks mate, any assistance you can provide in this would be outstanding. Failing that I can always buy the games as they are available on Dynaverse but I'd rather not as I only want the sounds.

Just an update, I unfortunately don't have any back-ups of the sounds.

How would I go about getting the sound files from Klingon Academy anyway?

I don't have the game but I would assume they would be in a zip or other type of archive file either on the CD or in the install directory.

I've got a data.dat file, and I'm not sure if that contains what I'm after or not. It's 300 MB so I assume so but I don't know how to access it correctly.

Never mind, I figured it out.

Do you just want sound effects from KA, or do you want voices and music as well?

Thanks mate.

The music and voices would be an added bonus. If you have issues with storage let me know and I can set up a temporarily FTP account here on MSFC for you to make it easier.

Actually the reason I ask is the music files are split into multiple files when I convert them and the voices sound like the chipmunks. I think I can fix these before sending them but wanted to know if you want them before doing anything like that.

I can easily merge the multiple music files into 1, I've done it plenty of times before. I really appreciate the effort you're going to to help me with these. :D

Actually, some of the music files look like they go together in a non-intuitive way, so I'm not entirely sure what to do with them. As far as the voice files, I'm not sure how to apply a change in Audacity to a lot of files at once, but all they need is to have their speed slowed in half.

The music's that way so it can transition from battle to peaceful music as required. There should be a config file somewhere detailing the "routes". I remember that from when I did the same with SFA music.

I found a series of text files that I think are what you describe, but I don't know how to read them.

You can always just send them to me and let me worry about it.

Lowering the speed in half isn't that difficult if I remember from a few years back where I messed around with sounds and music. I never used Audacity I had a different program.
