A few hours ago The Sarah Jane Adventures finally made its Australian TV debut with its first episode Invasion of the Bane.

Having originally aired in the UK on January 1 2007, this is a gap of almost 22 months between its original UK and Australian broadcasts. This is the longest gap for a Whoniverse episode between its first UK and Australian broadcasts since the current Doctor Who TV series came along in 2005.

Australian broadcasting update:
I had another look at the November issue of Optus Magazine - in addition to its Friday slot, it looks like the half hour episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures will be shown individually on Nickelodean starting on Sunday November 3 6:30pm.

Interestingly the hour long first episode Invasion of the Bane is going to be shown as two half hour episodes.

Check with the listings for Nickelodean again this time via the 'tv guide' button on the remote and it looks like all of Invasion of the Bane will be shown in the Sunday slot.

It seems that Invasion of the Bane being scheduled in a half-hour slot was simply an error in the listings.

I have been told that DWM has confirmed the writers of season 3 of the Sarah Jane Adventures:
Phil Ford writes two of the six stories, Gareth Roberts and Joseph Lidster one each. The other two stories each goes to newcomers to the series Rupert Laight (who has previously written Doctor Who fiction that is available on the official BBC Doctor Who website) and Brian Dooley.

Recently noticed that even though this is Rupert Laight's first time writing for SJA it is however not the first time that he has written a Sarah Jane story. Laight had written for Big Finish, the Sarah Jane Smith episode Ghost Town. He is the only person to write for both Sarah Jane's Big Finish audio and BBC TV adventures.

To Australian viewers:
With the second season of The Sarah Jane Adventures to debut on Nickelodeon on Tuesday July 14 7:30pm Optus Magazine gave it the "PICK OF THE WEEK" label. The last sentence of the review says, "While The Sarah Jane Adventures is aimed at kids, hence its PG-rating and early evening timeslot, it'll appeal to anyone with a sci-fi bent, much like its parent series."

Unlike the first run of the first season which Nickelodeon showed in double episodes, the screening of the second season will be one episode per weeknight from the aforementioned July 14.

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine has revealed the names of the six stories of season 3 and some of them look quite spoilery:

Prisoner of the Judoon, by Phil Ford
The Mad Woman in the Attic, by Joseph Lidster
The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, by Gareth Roberts
The Eternity Trip, by Phil Ford
Mona Lisa's Revenge, Phil Ford
The Gift, by Joseph Lidster
