It looks like Ripper, the Buffy spin-off that had been on the drawing board for years now will finally get made with Tony Head to return as Giles with Buffy creator Joss Whedon hoping it would be a 90 minute movie for the BBC:

"Joss Whedon is returning to the small screen and he has a remnant of Buffy up his sleeve.
In a story from Home Media Magazine, Whedon hopes to create Ripper, "a 90-minute movie for the BBC."
The project would see "Anthony Stewart Head reprising his role as Rupert Giles," which is the same role he played in the immensely popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Set in England, we would now see Buffy's mentor in the spotlight as he dealt with various forms of "magic and the supernatural."
Should this happen, it would most likely surface in the U.S. on home video."
