I'll admit it publicly. I play games besides A2. Thought it would be nice to share some screenies from those with you as well. I never really set out to deliberately pose a pic, I just keep tapping the PRTSCN key during a game whenever the mood strikes. Usually wind up wading through about forty or fifty to find the one or two good ones. I prefer RTS games and recently got back into playing THQ's Dawn of War series after a long hiatus. I do not have DOWII because it seems more of an RPG or FPS to me. But I have all of the others. One of the nice things about playing a game online occurs whenever the next title comes out. All the crazies rush to the new game and generally, the crowd which still plays the older one settles down to a bunch of fine people it is really fun to hang out online with. Like Y'all 'round heah, lol.

BTW, I do not intend for this to be a thread where only I am posting pics. Some of Y'all play lots of PC games and I'd really like to see some screen captures from those here. This is not intended to be some sort of contest thread either. I know, I know. We all want to take those jaw droppingly beautiful shots which Dan1025, Jetfreak, and FallenGraces seem to do so effortlessly and so well. Fact is, the learning curve on taking good pics starts with taking pics. If your pic does not match theirs in quality, I really don't care. I just want to see what you're playing. Content is more important than style. I promise the more pics you take, the better they'll get. So C'mon! Share some stuff with us! Don't make me set the Puppy Eyes on 'Heavy Stun' to get pics outta Y'all, 'cause Y'all know I'll do it. lol

Emergency 4 is a game which lets you control Police, Firefighters, EMS and a Tec Division.
It is a German game, but available in English, too (I think there is a US version called 911:First Responders or sth like that).
As you can see on the picture, modding is possible. The vehicles were "skinned" (so repainted) by me in the colours if a fictional state (the cyrillic words mean "Militia", the Eastern-European equivalent of the Police).

Best mod for the game is definately the Los Angeles modification. I'll come up with some images of that, soon

Couple more from Warhammer 40K. Been playing a lot of this lately. It is very very Gothic and heavy handed and overwhelming, but it is quite enjoable to play as the Orks because the humor in this faction is wickedly funny. In the shots below, a force of Human Space Marines are preparing to breach a gate which the Eldar must hold to win the mission. The Space Marines are the genetically engineered super soldiers of the Terran Empire. They are sort of the centerpiece of the game. Interestingly, this all began as a table top game played with miniature figures which has been around about ten or fifteen years. The TT version was on the wane, as so many games are these days, until the PC version revived interest in it. A whole new generation of people began playing the TT version and the WH40K Community is active and growing larger than it has ever been.

These pics are unretouched and directly from the game. The only thing I did was set up the GUI so it can be moved out of the shot. The Space Marines in the game are not as detailed as their miniature counterparts are, but they come pretty close.

CnC Generals

I have been an avid CnC fan since Westwood released the first one back in '95. I even had CnC '95 for the N64. Never finsihed that version because my son and daughter would hog the console all the time playing Mario Kart. Anyways, when I found Generals and Generals Zero Hour, I was pretty happy. But like all modders everywhere I looked at the game and thought, "Meh, I can make that look better." After ruthlessly ransacking nearly every single CnC site for the best maps and mods, I was once again happy with how my game looked. best of all, since all I really did was change out some textures, I could play online. Generals is one of the very few games where you'd find me in the lobby hanging out waiting for someone to play against.

Aah, the Transparent Water Mod by Ivan. The stock water is really really ugly and detracts from the game a lot.

The stock USA forces have the most ridiculous coloring ever for combat vehicles. They are all painted a shade of off white. Happily, someone fixed this.

The US helicopter, the Commanche is a shiny shade of black in the stock game. Terrible paint job for one of the best weapons in the game. As the GLA, I learned quickly never go anywhere at all unless I am moving under a cloud of anti-aircraft missiles.

The Chinese are probably the most fun to play of all the factions. Lots of troops and lots of inexpensive AFV's which can be mass produced quickly. This is a troop of ADA guns moving out to guard a choke point.

More Chinese. This time infantry. In the game the Chinese have the ability to quickly build more infantry than they can use. These troops are getting a couple of bonuses, indicated by the star under them and the circle around them. One of these is appropriately called, "The Horde Bonus".

The Chinese finally got their own helicopter in GEN:ZH and it is a beauty. It can carry a mass of troops, a gatling gun and a napalm bomb. All at the same time. The Commanche may look nicer and be faster, but it just does not have the same punch. The Russian Army has a saying, "Rotor is to track as track is to boot." Seeing a mass of these coming over that ridgeline behind your base will ruin anyone's day.

This is the game which taught me what little I know about coding a proper Artificial Intelligence. I cannot remember who made it, but the name of the mod says it all. "Almost Human AI" requires some very minor adjustments to maps and pathing but little else. And those of you whom are accustomed to having your own way in a Comp Stomp probably should stay away from anything which has these words included in the ReadMe or description. Most of if not all of the ideas found in SP Cam, Improved come from this game. AHAI is fast, brutal and above all, sneaky. It will do things I've never seen any AI anywhere do. I tried to follow the precepts as closely as possible. After all, both this and A2 are RTS games. A direct transfer over to A2 usually meant I was defeated in less than ten minutes.

Ever go digging thru your stuff and find something you forgot about completely? Happened to me recently. Found a game called MechWarrior4:Mercenaries I had forgotten all about. Then, I found an entire set of mods for it which added in about twice as many BattleMechs and weapons as the game shipped with. I installed the game and the mods and crossed my fingers. Vistas runs the game with no problems or complaints.

Some pics showing off my custom installs of C&C:Generals and C&C:Zero Hour Mostly reskins but well done reskins nonetheless. I am sending this in today as a Compilation Mod for hosting here. I spoke with Majestic about this nearly a month ago and have spent the intervening time trying all reasonable means of contacting the people who made the individual mods which comprise this. I have had zero success contacting any of them. I did credit all of them in the mod's ReadMe. All I did was make these work together. Of course it is Majestic's call if he wants to host this or not. And of course if any of them complain he'll need to remove this. Still, these are some very nice reskins and other things which make playing either of these games much more enjoyable.

General Alert
Following an earthquake warning county Firestation #1 is set to instant readyness.

Car Crash
For yet unknown reasons a middle-aged woman crashed with her car near County Firestation #2. According to an eyewitness, she has lost control over her vehicle very suddenly. Paramedics could stabilize the woman after she was cut out of the car. She was brought to County General hospital with severe polytrauma.

Heart Attack
An older male had a myocardial infaction in the store of a gas station. The owner called 9-1-1, however incidentially a team of Red Cross volunteers arrived first on scene when they went there to get a hot cup of coffee.
The man had to be rescucitated by the ALS-crew on the way to the County General. After six weeks in an intensive care unit he passed away.

10-41, Code 3 (means: Paramedics needed, with Lights and Horn)
An ALS (Advanced Life Support) truck racing towards the next patient. A 9-1-1 caller said that her daughter had trouble breathing. Arriving on scene, the Paramedics where surprised not to find a pediatric emergency: the daughter was 41 years old, the caller was her 70-years old mother.

A young woman suffered from an anaphylactic shock after eating at a fast food restaurant. If she reacted on substances from the food there or from other sources is not known. She was brought to the County General as well.

I really like this game, Intrepid. I only wish I could find a copy of it. How fortunate you were to find a game which matches your real life interests and job so very well. The one thing which stands out the most about the screenies you've shared with us is the basis of the game. Very rare indeed to find a game based upon saving lives and helping people, rather than the far more common reverse.

I have been playing a lot of WH40K lately. As Imperial Guard. Like the Guard most of all. Ordinary humans who go out to defend the Empire against extraordinary foes. One of my favorite Guard weapons is a tank. Ooooh! Didn't see that comng did you? The former M1A1 Master Gunner likes tanks. Can't imagine why. lol. Anyway here she be. She's called Baneblade. In game and she's pretty much a one vehicle army.

This Equipment Squad is responding to a medical emergency. Since all firemen on that unit are also EMTs, they can provide medical aid until an ambulance arrives.

The man had an AMI (Acute Myocardial Infaction) while working in his garden. He was stabilized by the First Responder crew and by the arriving Ambulance crew.

On the other side of the world:
The (fictional) nation of Baltuvia in North-Eastern Germany. The former Soviet republic thrives.


On patrol, OMON policemen (a Riot Police) have caught a thief who was stealing briefcases. Shortly after Milizja-Officers (the Eastern European equivalent of the Police) arrived to take the man into custody.

A car jacker had lost control over his car after being spotted by a police helicopter. The man is said to be armed. He abandoned his car and continued on foot, but was arrested by ALFA (sth like SWAT)
The police helicopter is a newer model of the Russian construction bureau Mil.

A probably drunk man has injured two people. He was arrested by the police. Both victims had to be brought to a hospital by the EMS.

A shortcut has lead to a structure fire in a shopping mall. Only one person was injured due to quick evacuation of the building.

My results from the Zann and Empire campiagns. Still working through the Rebel campaign.

Sort of. In multiplayer you can choose a main color, secondary color, and emblem, not unlike customization in Halo. Colors are chosen with a basic hue/saturation field and a value slider, while emblems are chosen from a pre-made selection. You can add more of them by adding 64p x 64p TGA files to Bin\Profiles\Badges.
