I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but anyway...

Emulators are amazing things. You can play old games that are no longer available at a higher resolution than the developers ever dreamed, and now you can use certain plugins to retexture everything in the game. Naturally, I am taking full advantage of this feature and have begun to retexture The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Screenies below.

I'm not very far in yet. The N64 couldn't handle large textures, so the developers split just about everything into five or six tiny textures. I'm still looking for Link's hat texture and hope I'll find it some day.

Niiiice! This was a really fun game. We enjoyed it a great deal. Hard to improve on a classic, but you've found a way.

Wow... Ocarina of Time. I still play this game using my good old N64.

This looks really good. I wish the new games would be closer to this, but it seems that the Big N wants to turn LoZ into a more 'adult' game series. I love OoT and its... well... childish and innocent style...

Oh I loved this game, our kids still play it on the N64. Classics never die.

Nicely done! kudos on the tasteful re texture!

Did anyone else notice the sword was re done too? This looks great! I never really played OOt... I DID complete Majora's Mask Several Times, Though...

Nintendo really did know how to make classic games back then... I wonder what went wrong?

But - Five of six small textures for EVERYTHING? This could turn into a lifes work! I cant wait?!?!?

Ive been meaning to upgrade from ZSNES for a while now - what N64 Emulator you using?

I'm using Project64 v1.7. I made a few more changes and found the texture for Link's hat. I'll post them either after school or during lunch.

I might look for that emulator you're using CABAL, I have nostalgia for Zelda now. :lol2:

Unfortunately, I'm stuck as an adult until I finish the Forest Temple, so I can't show you the new child textures, but I did some work on the adult Link.

The shield texture isn't actually mine. I'm going to make my own though because it looks odd on that angled surface. I am also going to need to find the texture for the end of the Master Sword's sheath and put some more gold detail into it.

You're doing awesome, perhaps we should consider a emulator download section for MSFC.

This is still one of my wife's favourite games. I never got into it myself but the improvements in the texture are not only obvious, they're a considerable enhancement. Good stuff!

:D

Some new textures for the Hylian shield, Deku shield, Master Sword sheath, Deku sword sheath, Link's hair, and the Goron bracelet.

These are amazing. I am pretty sure Nintendo never intended anything near this level of detail, either. Which makes these more amazing.

Hello, the re textures so far look amazing! Especially the cloth re textures. It breathes a new and interesting bit of life into an old but good game :).

I have textured the Temple of Time with what would best be described as 'copious amounts of marble.' And it looks great!

I feel like an idiot. I got the Master Quest version of Ocarina and booted it up. The first thing I noticed was that it used the custom textures I made for Ocarina. The second thing I noticed was that it had a save in Japanese, so I deleted it. Then I realized that the stats on the save looked familiar so I checked the Ocarina saves. Sure enough, the save file was gone and can't be recovered. So now I have to restart my entire game. Oops...

At least I don't need to start the textures over.

Ah I hate when I do that myself. I hope you weren't too far into the game. I can't seem to get my game pad to work so I haven't played the game. If I one day manage too I will be suckered into it for many hours as it's a fabulous game and your re-textures make it even better.

The Project64 site is here. Version 1.7 (what I'm using) requires that you be a donor to download, but 1.6.4 can be downloaded for free. My retexture project is, unfortunately, only compatible with 1.7. I can't post a ROM link here because of intellectual property laws, however.

That's were I got v1.6.4 from. I can also say it works with Windows 7, well the 32bit version at least.
