• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello icanski.

You might find answers to your questions in our Armada II section.
This is the General Chat section, where Armada or any other games are not discussed.
As you are new on the forum, this is not a problem, but please take care to post your threads in the right forum sections. If you need any further help concerning the forum, feel free to send me a Private Message and I see what I can do for you.

Indeed, we have a Armada 1 and 2 section designed solely for those two games I have moved the thread to there so you are more likely to get assistance from the members here.

The biggest suggestion for general modding is Westworld's Big Book of Modding available in the downloads section. It covers 99% of modding the game (both games actually) and is considering the Modders Bible for the Armada games.

If you are interested in modelling (as I myself am currently doing) Milkshape is the cheaper alternative. It only costs about $25 to get a registration key to the problem and the Armada Importers and Exporters are available on the Milkshape site that will allow you to convert to and from SOD format. It's a cheaper alternative to the $2000 3D Max.

Other handy programs to have are graphic programs like Prestio Imagefolio, GIMP, Photoshop, Paintshop Pro etc. The best would be either one of the two latter ones as they can basically do anything you need for Armada including lightmaps/alpha channels.

I really can't suggest much more until I get a better idea on what you are actually planning on doing?
