• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

My current build dates back to 2009 and I'm going to start a new one in the next month or so. I thought I'd post the specs for a mid-level build and get advice/opinions of others

Asus Prime L370-P LGA 1151 motherboard
Core I5-8400 6 core Coffee Lake processor
16 gb DDR4 Team T Force SDRAM
Geforce GTX1080 8 gb
Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500gb storage
Corsair CS650M 650 watt power

Still checking out all the cases to put it in. Nothing too fancy but with good airflow and can add additional fans

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the parts for my new build (changed from above) and I had a question on windows. if I order a downloadable version how will I install that on a new build? Do you just download it to a USB or something from a working computer?

You put the installer on a USB stick, if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure it should come with instructions on how to do that, too.

However, if you already have a retail license of Win10 (not an upgrade license) you can just drop that hard drive into the new system and transfer the license, which I should be able to walk you through.

I have Win7 Pro right now on my current desktop. Was thinking of getting it again as it's still available in OEM, but will probably just go Win 10 Home Premium. I've never dealt with or had to need multiple copies, but was just going to get the Retail version

Looking to see if someone can help me. Got my build done and trying to install win 10, but it keeps giving an error about the drive saying the selected disk is of the gpr partition style. I got the evo 970 ssd and in my bios I've tried uefi and legacy mode, but I can't get windows to install. Been googling and trying stuff, but no go.
