New Colonial Ship - Eros Class Lightstar

While working on the Peacekeeper models Majestic sent me to finish off, I came across a model in my 'In Progress' folder that I'd made a while ago and almost forgotten about.

The design is based on a small ship that was shown during the early stages of BSA but was later removed for whatever reason. I always loved the design, so when I gained the ability to make it myself I did.

The ship, which I've named the Eros Class Lightstar, is a small corvette designed for patrol, escort and recon missions into areas where sending a Raptor mission would be too dangerous. She's only around 300m long, armed with a few mid-range KEW turrets, and carries no support craft. And here she is:

The model itself is a kitbash entirely created using one of the engine pods from Majestic's version of Galactica (duplicated several times, edited & scaled properly) so thanks again for the permission mate! The texture was created using the renders of Galactica that Zoic Studios posted online a while ago (a trick I borrowed from MaP) and is 1024x1020 (it was double that but I've scaled it down due to the size of the ship and the limits of the A2 engine, so feel free to make it smaller for your own PC).

I'm doing the hardpointing now, and she'll be released in the same style as Majestic's BSG Parallels ships - with a hardpoint map included with all the other details (wireframe, BB, e.t.c) - instead of an odf file. I'd love Jetfreak to do the screencaps & AdmiralsLog image for her if he's interested, so Jet if you read this let me know

Wow, looks great. We can't have enough small Colonial ships. (Actually, we can never have enough Colonial ships regardless of size, but...)
The design actually reminds me a bit of the PRP Olympia, which I really loved.

Hello:
I also agree, Colonials will never be lacking of new ships... they are like the Federation for Star Trek .
That design must have been from before I joined BSA because I don't quite remember it, but I can say that it is a very cute ship... but I still think it may handle well in a battle, maybe in packs.

You're both more than welcome to include it in your mods, though you may need to ask Majestic as well since I used one of his original models to make it (though if you're mods are only being released here there may not be a problem).

Not a problem by me guys. Both Thunder and Zaxxon are releasing their mods only here as they are already using a lot of my material so if it's okay with Dan you won't have a problem with me.
