• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Well, I said I'd be starting something - and this is it. It's quite a biggie' but I think I'll have some fun doing it :)

One of my favourite settings has always been Steampunk, I love the way its done and rationalised, but I was always rather annoyed by the lack of a lot of it. Then I thought - why don't I do it?

Now what I'm doing isn't strictly steampunk (I'm including some more modern stuff as well, nothing past the sophistication of very early jets though. Maybe 'combustionpunk' would be a better name) but It's definitely going to have elements in with it.

Now - for the first of (hopefully) many;

The man's shown for scale, I might've made it a bit too big actually...

This is the Scoutwheel. Today, I'm going to mostly work on the background and such-like for the world. Very few things are concrete yet - save that it'll be an alternate history Earth and that there will be at least five completely different nations with styling.

Hehe, looks pretty cool mate, never been into steampunk/cyberpunk, but recently I've read tidbits and it seems pretty neat. At first glance I thought it was a Stargate though. :p

I can see what you mean - I never really liked it fully 'til I played Rise of Legends :lol:.

It does look a little bit like a Stargate (that gives me an idea...), didn't expect that at all.

And because I hate working on just one thing at a time, here's a quick engine for some sort of flying contraption;

No man for scale this time (forgot where I saved him...) but It's about the size of his upper body for reference.

Looking good Amateur.

I've always liked steam punk in that it lets you play with ideas more freely which can be fun from time to time.

Thanks :)

I completely agree - its nice to be able to take a whole lot of stuff and say no, I'm doing it my own way :lol:

Anyways - little more work on the engine thing (the Scoutwheel's on hold until I work out what to put on it next). Think I'm 'gonna go for a rotating engine design...

Not sure about the central section yet - but I have a few ideas that I plan to flesh out :D

Most "interesting".... and I mean that in a good way. I like the giant tire (looks like your making a single wheeled "gyro-cycle"), I don't think it's too big. I like it. As for the other images, they too look interesting.

Thanks :)

Not sure if I'm entirely happy with it, but this is the base shape for the central bit that I have at the mo';

I'll probably leave detailing for a while - I've got another idea that I need to flesh out...
