Read that Ashlee Simpson has joined the new Melrose. She will play the character of Violet.

Pilot:
Episode 1 of the current TV series.
Sydney is alive but before we get a chance to find out why she is still alive, she is dead again minutes later. I don't think it was worth it to bring her back just for that. Couldn't they have invented a new character to kill off instead.
It also revealed that Michael had helped faked Sydney's death and this does not really make sense because in the original series she had just married the man she love Craig. Why would she faked her death to escape happiness?
Other than that it was not a bad start to the series.

Nightingale:
Episode 2.
For most of the episode through flashbacks it would appear that Auggie may have killed Sydney but there is another possibility in Violet who has now been revealed to be Sydney's daughter.
It is becoming depressing the method Lauren has to go through to pay her fees.
Ella mentions Zach Quinto. This may have something to do with the fact that Executive Producer and the director of this episode Greg Beeman had worked on Heroes which featured Quinto as Sylar.

Episode 3.
I think this is most we get to see the most of Michael and Sydney since this series began as attention turns on Michael on the possibility of him being Sydney´s killer.
Did not enjoy the plotline of Jonah being angry with Riley for not telling her family and her friends that they are engaged.
However it is unfair that Jonah is not getting credit for the music video that he directed. Ella says that even with her job hanging by a thread she fought for Jonah against her boss. It sure did not look that way to me.
Looks like an interesting development of Michael including Lauren in his group at the hospital.
What a revelation at the end of Michael having files on the Melrose residents, both past and present.

Before meeting with Lauren, Michael had asked for his office to be opened as he had lost his key. Just noticed the reason why he had lost his key is that David had stolen it when he got the files from Michael´s computer.

Vine:
Episode 4.
Josie Bissett makes her return as Jane. She has ditched the Mancini name as she uses her maiden name Andrews. By all indication she is no longer with Kyle, who was played by Rob Estes who had been Josie's real life husband. Since the original series ended Josie and Rob had split up so might as well make it the same for their fictional characters.
Ella speaking in jest says that she could see Jane's family resemblance to Sydney. Obviously an in-joke to the fact that Jane and Sydney are not biological sisters, Jane was adopted before Sydney was born.
Jane takes over from her late sister as landlady of Melrose. She has done the job before after she threw Michael out when he cheated on her with Kimberley.
Oh dear what has become of Jane as she comes out as very cold as she rats Violet out to the police and resorting to blackmail to get what she wants.
Violet says that the reason why she ran away from the police is because she ran away from her abusive adoptive parents. However since she lied about having a joyous reunion with Sydney it means that everything she has said is suspect.

Canon:
Episode 5.
A flashback on how Sydney became friends with Ella only for their friendship to end because Ella's publicity for Sydney's art gallery generated virtually no turn-out for it. If Ella is such a brilliant publicist why did it fail to translate into success for Sydney's show.
Violet shows her ruthlessness when she framed that bartender for stealing money so she can get her job. Ironically Auggie told Violet that if she keeps her hand out of the register she will do fine as it was her hand in the register that got her that job.
Lauren having her first official gig into the world's oldest profession reminded me of Sydney's time in that profession.
