• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. Hello all. Whilst a few here probably won't know me, I have been resident on and off with the Armada community for the best part of 13 1/2 years since Armada 1' glory days. In that time I feel I've learnt a hell of alot and seen much in the way of seriously great talent come and go and still remain (come on. you all know who you are :) ) in the now very small community. Anyway. After seeing some of the interesting and in alot of cases, breathtaking, artistry thats been posted here I figured I would add my own so without further ado (and in my best Blue Peter voice) "Here's a few I've done before!!":

(Now please be advised that many of these images are linked from my Photobucket album but the models themselves are freely available via the link in my signature, provided it works. The models are NOT IN GAME CONVERTED FORMAT so expect images to be rendered and screen captured via both 3dmax studio and Milkshape 3d, but ALL models are of medium to low poly counts and made with Milkshape 3d (this is my primary modelling software and gives any would be 3d modellers an idea of what the programs capable of))

First up. Stargate Atlantis City ship. I did this one some time ago after finding the utterly beautifil version originally done by SGA-3D and hosted on Scifi-3d website. His original work was upwards of 300,000 polys (can't remember the original versions amount but ms3d had some serious problems). The textures were made from base 3d max renders of the original mesh sections (buildings etc.etc) and amounted to over 200 images which had to be combined. The model turned out at around 90% accurate to the original and is just slightly over 20,000 with 8 texture TGA files. *NOTE: This model was converted and tested to work fine in Armada 1. Atlantis also currently holds my personal record for taking the longest amount of time to complete:

Next up, and a personal favourite of mine:

Stargates BC-304:

This rebuild was of a relatively poor version (around 1500 polys with 3 low resolution textures) which I was really not happy with so after about a week of trawling through the many reference images and several models I chose the best one I could find of a suitable poly count. Sandma3d' version which was originally made for SFC3 took my fancy so after around 11 hours complete rebuild and re-texture time this was the result (new mesh was just over 2060 polys) which I was far more happy with:

Ah. Star Wars. Any way you look at the name it gives images to me of the original three films (just wish I had seen the trilogy in the cinema :( ). Still. It gives us modellers a massive scale universe to work from and I was happy to make some attempts of my own. As massive as my list is I still have a great deal to do with regards to updating the base meshes which were made between 2002 and 2005. No matter though. With the Rebel Fighters to be done at some point in the future the Imperials are looking somewhat much happier. All these shown below started of with very low poly counts (in the case of the Tie Fighter as low as under 600 polys. The revised version was up to 1578 with greater detailing and rebuilding over much of the model):

It's great to see you're posting here, those look really good. I really like that Daedalus.

I really like the TIEs, especially the Interceptor. The last one is really odd, though. It's almost like the Imperials looked at the B-wing and decided to make their own version.

That would be the TIE Experimental M-1 seen in one of the older Xwing games. It is indeed odd, but I really like it. I made my own version a few years ago just for the hell of it. Great to see someone else is also showing off their Star Wars work here on MSFC. It was getting lonely, so many thanks MAP. Keep them coming.

That is some fine modelling work MajorPayne, top notch efforts for sure! :salute: I really like that revamped 304, looking very refined and detailed in the textures!

Thanks all but remember that my modelling is only as good as I can make it because of the various source materials I find.

Anyway. One of my personal best rebuids and I think theres only a very old version that Deemon did back for the millennium project. The Klingon Ty'Go'Kor station from TNG wasn't seen very often but its apparently some sort of defense station. Still herbyguitar was kind enough to give me access to his high poly model (originally created for the Star Trek Continuum mod) and with a bit of editing of a new texture using Wrath of Achilles Batleth and 9ofNines Negh'var the results came out better than expected:

Next up is a somewhat speculative ship. Voyager's Aeroshuttle could be seen but only from the underside. Some have suggested that its possibly the captains personal yacht but its never been used in the series so we'll never truely know. Todd Kumpf provided the original model and the texture was rendered directly from the original. Although its not as detailed as some the poly count is extremely low (544) but I was also asked to rebuild the ship to Bridge Commander specs so a version of around 3700 polys was also done:

Finally for today one of favourite fan based ships for Stargate. Although I do know of one other person who made a very low poly version of this the results (because of the texture more than anything) didn't come out so great. After around 19 hours of construction and with the exceptional reference orthos that Robert "Alnair" Hoermann had previously posted I was able to create three versions (two are around 10,000 polys and the third was close to 3900 polys):

Nice works MaP. Great to see you more active again. Really love the Klingon station, looks spectacular. How many polies on it? The only other one like it that I recall seeing is the one Aad Moerman released a few years ago for A2. Seeing all your Star Wars stuff makes me want to load up Star Wars Fleet Command. :)

Its 4862 but unlike a good portion of my rebuilds it only has a single texture. As for the star wars fighters. Well lets just say that the ship I'm currently in the process of rebuilding will be somewhat bigger and be quite alot higher in the poly count.

I love that Klingon station MAP. I have yet to try my own version, but yours is done extremely well the textures look great and I love how it's only using one texture that is great and good for the game as she only needs to load the one. Top stuff.

.....and so onto my very latest model. Thankfully for this I had access to some lovely reference material although I didn't have any 3d models to work from the results turned out well. Weighing in at around 3780 polys and using a single texture file the Cylon Tanker from the original series is pictured. The ship itself is one module shorter in length than the actual onscreen version and theres differences with the rear section (as in missing or altered detail):

That is some awesome work there, I don't think anyone has ever attempted that model on this community before. It has turned out very well.
