I'm pretty sure the Fed turrets in FO use a replace weapon. The AI does build them directly though so it probably can't figure them out.

The AI can't really choose them, but you could simply add all of them to the build list, or as you suggest, use an auto replaceweapon for the one you want the AI to build.

Well I haven't posted much here of late, truth be told I've been busy. Got some work done over the past few days. I decided to go back and look at my fighters. When I originally did them I tried to strike a balance between poly count for both small fighters (deployable from carriers) and as main units (like any other ship ingame).

However this time I went back and poly reduced them as far as I could without loosing quality, while I was at it I decided to make new textures for them, as lets face it my old textures sucked. That is what took the time to do, as a lot of the detail I removed from the poly reduction I put into the texture this time around.

Without further delay here is the new TIE Fighter, Interceptor and Bomber as well as the older higher poly one:

TIE Fighter
TIEF_01.png TIEF_Old.png

TIE Interceptor
TIEIN_01.png TIEIN_Old.png

TIE Bomber
TIESA_01.png TIESA_Old.png

I have managed to drastically reduce the poly count as well on all 3 fighters, I almost halved the amount of poly's.

TIE Fighter
New= 792
Old = 1308

TIE Interceptor
New= 840
Old = 1516

TIE Bomber
New= 886
Old = 1516

I also reworked the bomber a little bringing in more canon solar panel arms, I call them pylons. I plan to do the Avenger. Defender, Hunter and Darth's Advanced X1 in the future. I also plan to take a look at the Rebel Z-95, X-wing, A-wing, Y-wing and B-wing as well in the future.

I'll finish off with some images showcasing other views of the three fighters:

Very nice work. Guess I didn't realize how beautiful your high polies were. Don't get me wrong the low polies look great. You've done a fantastic job on both sets. :thumbsup:

No problem mate, reason I pointed it out. :D

Nicely done there majestic. Nicely done indeed.

Thank you very much MAP.

Station time again, I'll do the other TIEs a little later down the track. Here we have the XQ4 platform for the Imperials.

FOScreenShot_140714_122548.png FOScreenShot_140714_122557.png

The XQ platforms are from the X-wing series and were used for a variety of purposes from hospitals to research facilities and outposts. They'll be used for outposts in the mod Rifraf and I am building. The Rebels will use the XQ2 and the Consortium the XQ3. Basically the idea is you have a main base, you loose that from an attack you can't replace it, these little platforms will serve as smaller bases and defense installations. A good means to enforce your expansions.

As you may have guessed I am focusing on the Imperials currently. Getting them all finished and only working on the Rebels to break it up a bit.

EDIT 1: Imperial Venator (14/07/2014)

Inherited from the Old Republic, the Venator was at the forefront of the Republic conflict with the CIS during the Clone Wars. It was the first Imperial vessel and made up the backbone of the early Empire until the Victory and later Imperial classes supplanted it.

Today the Venator is a rather obsolete cruiser, with many having been disarmed and sold to private firms as massive cargo haulers, others have been sold to small loyal planetary governments to serve as flagships and to strengthen their local security forces. However many still serve the Imperial Navy with most are assigned to backwater systems.

Primarily a carrier, the Venator while weaker than the Victory and other more modern designs still holds the record of the largest fighter compliment in her class range.

FOScreenShot_140714_211539.png FOScreenShot_140714_211622.png

At a later date I plan to make a more modern Imperial equivalent and move the Venator to the Consortium Navy.

Do you happen to have a model of General Grevious' ship from the opening of Star Wars III?

Not currently I do know MAP had a Providence included in this Clone Wars mini pack back around a decade ago. It should be on ArmadaFleetCommand.

I have no plans currently on doing one, unless I do a resurgence droid army faction addon which I had thought about doing in the past but got no plans currently on doing one.

That new platform and Venator look great. Dare I say it, but when I first saw the Venator design years ago I almost liked it better than the venerable ISD. I just think it combines the look of the ISD with something kind of fresh, yet looks like a forebear of the ISD. I don't know if that makes sense?

Thanks Hellkite, I too like the darker textures on the Imperials I think it suits them better.

Thanks mate glad you like them. The Venator has been sitting on my hard-drive for years and I never got around to texturing her. I may do a Republic version just because I can at a later date to include with the public release.

Been working on a Imperial corvette recently, haven't fully got it modeled yet, decided to give it a break as it isn't turning out as I hoped. Instead I decided to go back to some of my older models and give their engines a touch up, this mainly included the engine gradients on the inner side of the exhausts, it's something I started to do with designs like the Victor, Acclamator, Pacificator etc but the Imperial, Victory and Immobilizer lacked these.

How they have them.

FOScreenShot_140715_124153.png FOScreenShot_140715_124159.png FOScreenShot_140715_124208.png FOScreenShot_140715_124215.png

I will probably look at doing a gibble (the lights and stuff exclusive to the Imperial units) update before I re-release the ships (all the Imperial ships) with the new updated textures. That might be this afternoons mission after I cut up some firewood.

EDIT 1 (15/07/14): I ended up editing the gibbles on all Imperial units, discovered a few errors on the stations as well that I fixed up, darn PC is having some issues of late with photoshop. So it doubled up on some layers. Those are fixed.

I have re-released the currently available Imperial ships with the new textures and realised that I forgot to send Jetfreak the Immobilizer and Gladiator models, so I sent them off to him with my latest Imperial ships.

The re-released ships can be found here: http://www.msfc.com.au/community/index.php?resources/categories/star-wars.26/

Some are just plain texture updates while others had sod changes and adjustments. I did do the Tector so if anyone is particular interested in having an updated version of that let me know and I'll update it as well.

They look really good. I'll grab the redone ships tonite. The dark textures look great. I still like the more antiseptic look from the movies as well, but these give a whole new feel. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Rifraf, I felt the darker textures would suit the Imperial ideology better as well. I haven't done any modeling of late, been working on something else, Rifraf knows this.

I am hoping to show you all something by the end of the weekend. Though I just got a chainsaw and I have a pile of huge tree stumps in the backyard and I have my 4WD so I can assume you can all guess what I might be spending some time doing over the weekend if it fines up. :lol2:

Hmm.... I want to ask, have you thought of how TIE fighters, Shuttles, and other Imperial craft would look like with darker hull metals?

I don't know about the Lambda-class shuttle, but I can see the TIEs looking good darker. Maybe as a different version for pirates or the Imperial Storm Commandos.

I haven't really thought about that, I might look at doing some texture variants when I release the revamped fighters, a little like what Star Wars Squadrons had before it was cancelled.

The fighters do however use totally different hull patterns/aztecs to the capitals. So they would never really match, but they didn't really match in the movies either with the fighters being produced by a different company to the majority of the capital ships.

So.... would the SSD be somewhere along the list soon? Or is that a "Never gonna happen" thing?

Never going to happen. I don't like SSD in Armada too big, slow and too many pathing issues to be viable. I find they are bad enough in EAW personally.

New releases, included are the Immobilizer cruiser, Industrial Complex, Kuat Station, X7 Factory and XQ4 platform.

Remember if you download please comment and rate the file, I've noticed the downloads are more than the rating and comments. I am retiring soon from the community and soon won't be releasing anything for A2 so please do the right thing and comment, it takes me more time preparing the download profile than it does for you to comment. Last thing I think you'll all want is for me to just say bugger it and stop altogether canning all the upcoming work I have yet to do.

All I ask is a comment and rate even if it's only nice job or good work, how hard is that? 20 seconds of your time compared to 12+ hours of mine doing the damn thing.

I just thought of an idea... if you'd be willing to do the work.

The idea of a temporary or short term installation for the Empire. The hulls of 4 or 6 Star Destroyers connected by a small structure that is built upon the necks of the star destroyers. It would be a fast construction that uses the fire power of the star destroyers and their existing hulls to quickly make a defensive installation. Applications for this would range from an orbital defense station to a weapon platform to defend a mining platform.

Hey Terra, I haven't considered doing one of those, not entirely sure if the design I am thinking of is the right one. Is it one of those future designs from the era of the Galactic Alliance and the return of the Sith and the Fel Empire?

If it is I think Warb_Null did one of those for EAW and I can convert it as he has given me the ok to convert any of his models to A2. He seems to follow my work as much as I follow his. :lol:

It's an interesting idea, however I already have a space station/starbase design on the way that would fill a similar role plus there is the XQ platform. But most importantly of all, I'm not a fan of kitbashing if I can get away with it.

The idea reminds me a little of the early Narn Starbase from Babylon 5 there they had 5 Th'nor frigates form into a starbase for quick expansions into Centauri territory.

Update time, a new ship. I haven't been able to do a lot of work recently, however today I got this one done. It's a Rebel cruiser.

The Dreadnaught class is a Rendili StarDrive designed warship that was built originally for the Galactic Republic. Considered aged by the Clone Wars, not many of them participated in the war with the Republic military favoring the newer designs like the Venator. By the Galactic Civil war a surplus of these ships found their way into the black market, the Alliance bought many and stole more from Imperial depots. The class originally required over 16,000 crew but after equipping Dreadnaughts with droids and automated systems to reduce the crew requirement to 5,000 beings, thus rendering the ships usable.

While not capable of going one on one with an Imperial Star Destroyer they were still quite capable warships and for many years they served as the front-line warships and flagships of the Alliance fleet before the Mon Calamari joined and brought their ships with them.

Dreadnaughts are quite small compared to Imperial cruisers and are more similar in size to frigates. This however doesn't mean they aren't up to the task. The Assault Cruiser was built out of the Dreadnaught class and are considered more efficient.

Battlestar always comes to mind when I see the Rebel DN. I'm not questioning the originality but sometimes you just can't deny it. She's a great rendition Maj, thumbs up all around. :)
