Hello all,

I would like like to announce today thanks to the speedy work by Jetfreak the first two Star Trek Legacy ports are now available.

This is a project I am intending on doing to bring as may viable models from Legacy to A2. Note I'll only be doing stock models, as I am not the one extracting the models from Legacy plus with stock models permissions are not needed.

These models are however being hardpointed by me and Jetfreak has kindly been doing lightmaps, screenshots and all the other goodies that can be found in the mods so a big thanks goes to him.

Many models however are too high in poly's to be usable in A2 by my standards and so those ones I won't be converting. However a few of them I plan to rebuild at lower poly counts.

I am hoping I can release a couple each week but it all depends on my schedule as well as if Jetfreak is free to assist with lightmaps etc.

A huge thanks has to go out to Terradyne for the original extraction of the model as ultimately without him this wouldn't be possible and it's sad to find out he has officially left the A2 community.

But there will be more on the way as time allows. :)

Glad to see you've got the ball rolling here Maj. And good to know that more ports will follow. I've been thoroughly enjoying the work I've contributed. It also helps me appreciate the Legacy modelers even more. The work done on these things is amazing. If I recall, some of these were done by Knox himself,

Yeah I still have COE and YY to do so I'm not perpared to do another mod, so a model release was a better option for me and the community.

As for how Terradyne did it, he used a program/plugin called 3dripper to rip them to 3D Max it only works for 3D Max v5 onwards and doesn't work with GMax and so I won't be able to do the extraction myself nor will most people as 90-95% of the community uses MS3D.

I have a rough model of the Strider class. I used screen shots for reference on making the model.

That's not entirely accurate from what I understand. I've used the program before, and from what I've seen it runs separate to max and captures a sort of 3d screen shot of all geometry that is seen exported in to the programs native file format. But, it can also be exported as an .obj file.

Now, I don't know how ms3d will cope with this; as the time I used it I just imported it into max - which is known to be much more powerful than ms3d when it comes to things like polies on screen.

What I did notice though, is that the model becomes skewered when using it, making straight conversions prohibitive. I'm going to try again with the native format when I get a second, to see if that does anything.

Oh, and lovely work both of you. I may have to pilfer that Ravenous for my personal install :D

Well I just posted what I read in the post by Terradyne and a few other modellers. To be perfectly honest I had never heard of the program until yesterday. :)

Fair enough. Truth be told I only found out by searching the legacy forums and giving the program a whirl :)

ive already heard of such a 3d ripper, but never tried or found something usable.
I dont know how that program works, but it looks pretty successful in your screenshots.
