• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Now let's get some information on the main races of Legacy of the Federation

Federation = They have good weapons and shields. Normally they are able to combat their Klingon/Romulan counterparts one on one with some general success, however they rely on their special abilities and numbers to make a victory decisive.

Federation: Build time/cost = 100% of normal Weapons/Shields = 100% of normal

Klingons = They have great weapons and weak shields. They build their fleet around power and numbers., Their ships are cheaply built, and are massed easily for high numbers, plus their multitude of weapons make them a powerhouse.

Klingons: Build time/cost = 80% of normal Shields = 80% of normal Weapons = 120% of normal

Romulans = They have good weapons and decent shields. The Romulans, while having comparable stats to the Federation, rely mainly on their cloaking technology to give them the upper hand. Their ships size and cloaking tech makes them cost more to build

Romulans: Build time/cost = 110% of normal Shields = 95% of normal Weapons = 100% of normal

Borg = Great shields and Great weapons. The Borg mostly overpower their targets with their sheer power and durability. They also have capturing/assimilation technology to aid their victories further. Their huge drawback is build time and costs

Borg: Build Time/cost = 150-200% of normal
Shields and Weapons = 200-300% of normal

This is how i did my balancing and my reasoning behind it. Hope it makes sense!

Enjoy more to come!

Timberwolf, I'll have a look over it if you like. I'm very nitpicky, so should iron out a few things for ya. I'll PM you my email address. =)

*wanders off to dig out A1 CD*

Before I had to re-install A1 was working on my system. I'll go and check it out again either this afternoon or tomorrow if I remember. If it works I'll be happy to beta test for you. I know how difficult it can be to get beta testers even for A2 mods, and with this being A1 it's even harder.

Sadly I'm at uni at the moment and don't have access to my A1 disc, otherwise I'd be more than happy to play the beta :(

Good luck with this phase of the mod anyway TW

I know its been a while since I was on but testing as far as I know is done. I will be finding a way for this community to download my mod either here or in a way that won't break forum rules. Hopefully everyone is still excited! I will say that if you want to use Anything from my mod, you need to email me first for permission.

Also, I am officially announcing that after the release of Legacy of the Federation 2.0 and its success/failure in the community, I will be retiring from active modding to focus more on my family and writing. I will still be around to help people out with some problems and minor mod work, but for the most part I will be retired and enjoy watching people enjoy my mod and the mods that follow mine with a smile on my face :D

The mod is very soon to come!

The one in this particular "one and done" is more like several hundred in total, don't you think?

I would stick around for a little bit, timberwolf, just in case there needs to be a patch. You never know.

well this is 3 and done sisko lol LotF 1.0, RotTE 1.0 (Rise of the Terran Empire, full mirror universe version of LotF) and 2.0

As for patches, I will patch if necessary but it wil not be a rush...Considering my newbrn, my wife's new business and the book im writing, modding will start to take a back seat:D

but i will still be around

I know its been a while since I posted, but the mod is almost completely done. I know testers are waiting, but i had to make sure the mod was perfect lol. I expect to reupload the mod and be ready for further testing by next friday. I appreciate every one being patient with me.

The mod to come real soon!

Hello:
You are doing a very fine job my friend, I think we can all wait some more until you get the mod the way you want it.

Keep it up!

Fair enough, I just have known too many people whom haven't released a mod due to it not being "perfect" in their own views. I was hoping this wasn't going to become one of those. Glad to know it is going to be okay.

For mods such as this it's best to upload via yousendit.com and then send the link to the MSFC Files email address:

Code:
files@msfc.com.au

Then either Terra_Inc or myself will upload it to the download section as soon as we can.

Just make sure all the credits are in place and permissions are all set and you provide around 6 screenshots of the mod so people can see what they are going to download.

Also if it's an A1 mod, you'll need to specify this in the email so it goes in the right section.

Pretty basic really, not all that different to how A2files used to work.

The mod is released!!!! However I can't say where exactly it is due to website. You can email me at my personal email for the website link but its more important that it is Done!

Also before anything is used outside of the mod, I need to be asked as some are forbidden for use outside of the mod due to where i get it from. Thanks!

You can say the web-site, you just can't link to as I assume it's not one of our affiliate sites.

No it is not. It is an RPG site run by a friend who gave me the space to store my mods there for free no matter what size they are. I'd prefer not to say what the website is in the forums tho. I'm just making for sure I will incur no more trouble. It is easier if people just email me at my personal google email Its my way of making sure I stay out of trouble :D

Well alternatively you are aware MSFC supports hosting, no size restrictions either on the file size. I have already posted the email to send the mod or mod link to.

Reason I am saying this, is it feel to me that having people email you for the site name and link could be looked upon as a sly way of getting around the advertising rule. Whether this is true or not I do not know, but given the fact a Admin gave you the okay to say the name of the site publicly and then you either did not read it or ignored it leads me to thinking this way.

I will be closing this thread until this issue is sort, which you can contact me via PM about.
