• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello, I thought I would make this thread to outline what is okay and not okay in terms of using my work, also other authors can add their own conditions in regards to their work.

Majestic's and Syf's Conditions of Use
You are hereby authorised to use my work in anyway you see fit, this includes:

  • Including it in a public project
  • Editing the work and/or using it to kitbash

However not everything I do is just by me, and if you plan to edit it (model wise like a kitbash etc) and release it you must also get the original authors permission as well. If unable to you can contact me about it and I'll see about forwarding you a contact detail if I have it or give you the green light.

Please note, if you do plan to publicly release it, whether individually or as part of a larger mod, you can as long as it isn't hosted off-site. In the simplest terms, none of my work is to be hosted anywhere but MSFC. Failure to adhere to this will guarantee a ban from MSFC, and your details forward to a list that is for naughty people.

Lastly, you must credit me, and everyone else involved in it's construction. The best way to do this is to also include the original read-me included in the file, or copying all the credit part of the readme to your readme. Incorrectly or simply forgetting won't cut it and get me upset, and take it from Katala you won't like me when I am upset. A PM asking me is always nice, and a note on the forums if showing the work to the community always brings a smile to my face and makes me feel good.

Enjoy. :)

Amateur/Beginner's Conditions of Use

Put simply, you can do anything you like with it - within reason and as long as I'm in the credits. The stuff I have done lately (with the exception of the Valkyrie for Jet's pack) has been my own work; and a blanket permission works for that.

Before that though, it was mainly kitbashes and ports - in which case the original author's must be stated as well. If you do forget a credit on one of those mods then make it mine, as the others are the ones who done all of the work.

Public releases I am happy with either here or on the other site, but I would ask you to release anything at both. Even if the file has only been uploaded here (such as the Star Wars ships I did recently) then this still applies.

Also, I would appreciate some info. about where my stuff is and what it's doing for the simple fact that the stuff I did was out of personal interest, so I'll probably want whatever they're in. :)

Terra_Inc's Conditions of Use

MSFC members are free to use and re-release anything I have released here, they can consider permission given as long as the resulting work is released at MSFC only.
If the resulting work is released to other sites as well, for example to A2F, permission must be asked before release.
In any case, proper credits must be included.
If the material I released contains the work of other people, they must of course be asked for permission as well.

Admiral Zaxxon's Conditions of Use
You can use anything and everything I have done myself in anything and everything, everywhere.
For any work I use that is not mine you need permission from its authors unless otherwise stipulated in the readme.
Credit is always nice, but I won't make somebody remove a file if it is wrong.

Dan1025s Conditions of Use
You can use my work for anything you like, as long as you check the readme to make sure you don't need to credit or contact anyone else first. You have blanket permission for anything which is solely my work. I always include information about other peoples work that I've used in my mods, and if you don't know where to go to get a hold of people to ask permission then please feel free to contact me.

I would ask that anything you release using my work you release here as well as on any other A2 sites, whether the file has been released in multiple places or on only one site (be it A2F or here). You don't need to contact me to ask permission, but please drop me an email or PM to let me know where my work is going and what it's being used for, I enjoy knowing what people are coming up with involving my stuff.

Pepperman's Conditions of Use Policy
I make and release models because it is fun for me to do so and I am honored when folks would like to use my stuff in their mods, be it personal or those they intend to release. You have blanket permission to use my work for anything you desire providing it remains freeware and not for commercial purposes. I do ask that you give credit where credit is due.

Occasionally, I do release kit bashes and conversions from other games so I ask that you always check the readme files to see what the requirements might be in that regard. In some cases, the burden shall fall on you to secure respective permissions from the original authors if required.

In summary, use my work to support your projects as needed and there is no need to contact me to ask permission providing it is solely my work. Once again, I ask that you do the right thing with regard to credits. I always include contact information in the readme file so if you want to drop me a line regarding the mod feel free to do so.

Major Paynes Conditions of Usage.

Although permissions are not absolutely necessary I do prefer to be informed of any reusage by 3rd parties. Credit is required in ALL circumstances unless said material assets are reused for personal projects only. I do not create my own texture assets and if any modder is in any doubt as to the original source they will be required to either make use of the readme file or contact me directly for clarification.

Theres been far to many times I've seen model and, more importantly, texture assets I've released reused and incorrect or missing credits are found. I can't stress this point enough due to the good relations I currently have with members of such sites as SciFi-Meshes and its easy to mess this up. Other than this I have always believed in attempting to help other would be modders with their mods, so I can also provide models in various formats if necessary.

Note: Post will be updated with all authors whom post here so it's in one post, to make it easier for all.

I have the same standards.

Not to take credit for majestics work, but I will note I often have a hand in majestics projects. So please be aware that there may be 2 people you need to contact. Reading the credits will inform you if there is more than majestic's permission you need.

Nice idea, mine are pretty much the same as Amateurs, but I'll put it down here anyway:
