• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Just recently I started modding Star Trek Armada 2 after realizing I had lost my heavily modded version from several years ago. I quickly noticed how several sites had closed and found my way here when I was searching for an Armada 2 Odyssey class which I was hoping to download. (currently I can't, not sure why?) I frequently play Star Trek Online and have heavily modded versions of Fallout 3, New Vegas, 4 and Skyrim. Armada was the first game I modded and will always have a special place in my life.

Welcome to the site! You'll have to be active for a bit before you can access the files in the Resources section. They'll be available when the bit under your username switches from New Member to Community Member.

We've got a whole STO subforum over here. It only looks dead. There's actually a pretty good amount of activity in the STO News thread.

We don't currently have Fallout or Elder Scrolls areas, but you can always post in the general PC gaming section. I tinker around with those myself, though not very much.

Naturally, we're happy to help if you have any Armada modding questions.

Don't be afraid to ask any of the staff if you have questions about the site. Only @Hellkite bites and it's usually not too hard.

Can't believe it's been 5 years, lol still not been able to download that Odyssey Class. Took a break from modding, thinking about a few ideas, possibly streaming some Armada 2.

It's in the Terms of Service, which I'm sure you thoroughly read on joining the site... although I've just realised that was a while back

To be eligible to download files, the user must be a participating member of the community and is required to post an introduction thread in the introduction section of the forums and post at least 30 posts of decent size (mass amounts of single or 3 worded posts within a very small time frame will be deleted as this is noted to rapidly increase your post count just to gain access to downloads and is also considered to be spam), be active for 7 days and have made some contribution (ie, participate in discussion on the forums) to the MSFC community and have a like count of at least 3 which can only be gained by other members liking your posts, if you are still waiting after a substantial amount of time, please PM a staff member, who will give you the rep required.

This is to protect peoples hard work from being copied by bots and unscrupulous individuals who would just come in and strip mine the place.

The hard part for newcomers is usually the likes, however you already have that, so just get involved with a few threads and you'll be on your way to that Oddy. But please don't just randomly spam to get the count up, it wakes Hellkite up and then he'll get grouchy.

That's actually a good question, and admittedly it probably isn't the best worded of explanations.
The aim is to ensure that people get actively involved in the community and are not just ticking boxes to join. We are trying to encourage people to participate. The more involved you get, the more involved you will want to get, and the better the community will be for it.
We're not looking for you to write an essay in every post, we are looking for posts that add value (mostly, if we ignore the Shout Thread...)
Nine times out of ten, if you just write "I agree" as the response to a post it adds nothing to the discussion. If you write a 500 word paragraph that is just a fluffed up way of saying "I agree" it still adds nothing to the discussion.
If you say why you agree (or disagree), even if it's only a single line, it's contributing to the community. The classic example would be someone posting a picture and you writing a post saying "cool" with a thumbs up. Ok you have flattered the creator but beyond that the post adds nothing to the discussion. Say why you think its cool, or if appropriate suggest how it could be improved,
The rules say "decent sized post" - meaningful content doesn't have to be long. If you can explain the meaning of life, the universe and everything it two words that'll earn you brownie points.
Basically:
- Don't spam
- Quality over quantity
- Get involved
