I would like to humbly ask if anyone would care to take a shot at moddeling this ship i found on my computer. I have no idea where it came from or who made it, or even who designed it, so i'm a little weary about using the original, and i did see some mesh errors on what looks like the primary hull bussard collectors. The only thing i really know about it is its file name "fhecate" (Thus my solution for its name), and i would be truly grateful to anyone who's willing to help.(As my recent attempts at moddeling are just sad)

If you wondering what i'll use it for, i hope to rename it the Horizon Class, and make a Fleet Ops avatar unit out of it.

Its actually a decent looking ship. I'm going to look around ans see if can find where it came from.

just did a google search and it might be from borg incursion 3

Hecate class from Borg Incursion 3 federation module
- Original model and textures fully credited to Greg Strong (AKA Lord Bile).
- Poly reduced version Engineering hull, deflector and accompanying texture maps retained and unedited.
- All other mesh sections scratch rebuilt using Milkshape 3d, and original model as a template for copying purposes.

Isn't that one in the SB34 comp mod?
It's also in AOW, which you might want to try. It's an awesome mod.

The SB34 compmod can be found at A2files. For some reason, the SB34 compmod can not be found at SB34.

Regarding AOW: Hm, strange. It comes with the 1.2.5 patch, so OS problems should be rare. I'd suggest reading the OS&A2 tutorial at SB34, just in case. I've always used WinXP, so I've never had any problems.

Don't know if it helps or not, but SFC3Files also has a copy of it.

Don't quite know the conversion process from SFC3 to A2 though, which has been a fairly annoying problem for me lately...

CV, maybe? I think it was made for SFC/A2. Not sure though, since I don't own any SFC and therefore haven't used it yet.

For some reason, the SB34 compmod can not be found at SB34.

And that reason is because SB34 doesn't allow hosting of files in its layout. It's restricted to text entries. I can't post an upload link to a file of that size without making people log in and jump through a bunch of hoops, and it's not really worth it when A2Files offers the same service for everyone across the Internet without any restrictions.

But to answer Styer_Crisis' question: there is a really pretty version of this very wonderful ship inside the SB34 Federation compilation mod. The textures are a little lighter than you might be looking for, but at least you know the model exists and that you don't have to beg for it. :D

I know, man. 'Twas intended to be humorous. ;)

Just harvested this one from the SB34 Comp Mod. Nice ship. Even after all this time MajorPayne's stuff is topical and looks good. Not a ship I want but I can clearly see why someone would want this. Decided to use this one to conduct a little experiment with my hex editor. I'd like to add lightmaps to the textures. I'd also like to give her the Akira Treatment. Two quick questions:

1) In this one's SOD file, do I tag just the entries marked 'texture' or do I have to tag the entries marked 'hecate' as well?

2) Can I use the !lambert_XXX_!opaque tag in place of the !phong_XXX_!default one?

Lambert was used in A1 and adds a very slight specularity effect as well as allowing the textures to be affected by the lighting ingame. Phong was used in A2 instead. Damfino why either. They really are the same in all the ways that matter. I have had a great deal of success with meshes made/converted by older versions of MS3D using lambert.
