• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I got this game yesterday and gave it a run playing up to mission 7 of the campaign on "Normal". I must say for a RTS on a console this is awesome especially when I got Spartan team Omega and took out a large force of Covenant with only 6 men.

So what does everyone think of this game? Does anyone have this game yet?

no fair! it doesn't come out in the US until March 3rd.

lucky! :p

i preordered it, and i plan to get it the day it comes out, i also ordered the Limited Editon that comes with the Mythic Map Pack for Halo 3. so i'm stoked :D

It came out here February 26th here *yesterday for us* I bought Majestic the Limited Edition as our 8month Anniversary gift and he is absolutely loving it, he spent all night last night on it :lol2:

Halo is a great series of games, we play them alot, probably more than we should :p Majestic has threatened to get me playing Halo Wars tonight :x *is not too good with console strategy games* :sweat: lol

i must admit i had been curious about it. but due to my current financial situation im being really careful abotu buying games. (i do by a lot and need to cut back!) the the extent that for the first time EVER i actually traded some in! (Got Dawn of War II for £5!!)

I have been meaning to download the demo off of live, but i keep forgetting. I'll definatley have to do it now, however, i have never been a fan of RTS on a console :/ but then the last one i played was Civilisation on The PSX.

Never leave your base open, always keep a surprise ready :yum:

RTS's Games arent hard, they just need you to think rather than rush in . Consider what your enemy would do and prepare for it, set up ambushes in closed in area's ect :shock:

I wasn't too sure about an RTS on a console, but it works out extremely well, better than I thought it was. :thumbsup:

i played the Demo for Halo Wars, and the controls are VERY easy to use, i firmly believe that anyone thats able to play an Xbox would be able to play it :)

It is very simple to use, I am up to mission 7 where you need to destroy a scarab which is half in construction but can move it's head and shoot. The thing is you need to destroy power nodes to slow it down and need to destroy it before it breaches the barrier that will destroy your base. All the time Covenant Locust's are coving at your base determined to destoy it.

One of the first missions I have actually failed, oh and I started on Normal difficulity. I don't know how one can do it on Legendary. :eek:

Also I was a bit disappointed that you can't play multiplayer or Co-Op on the one system it's either system link or xbox live which in my books sucks. :(

i got Halo Wars the Other day, and i love it :) I'm at about the same spot in the Campaign as you are Majestic (i failed it too, because i wasted to many recourses trying to shell the Scarab with MAC rounds. when i should have been building Scorpions)

my only disappointment with the game, is it seems that the Elites aren't a regular playable infantry unit for the covenant (not counting the Honor Guards). and since the game is only on Xbox, no possibility of modding them in. :(

I'm now on the last mission but haven't played it much due to things going on in my life and have been modelling to try and relax.

Yeah that mission would have to be the hardest in the game followed by a
Flood mission.

Yeah the Elites come in the grunt squads and when you play as the Brute Cheiftian the brutes come in the grunt squad. My only disappointment in the game is how you can't play co-op or multiplayer on the one Xbox, hence another reason why Aingeal and I want to get a second one so we can play four player co-op of Halo 3 (with the kids) and co-op Halo Wars together.

I played the demo pretty much the same hour they released it on Live, and then went and pre-ordered the collectors edition the next day. Sadly due to financial screw ups and some really bad luck, I wont be able to get my copy for another month or two, even though it came out earlier this week for the US...

So far though, the demo has been a lot of fun, I'm curious who all the commanders are in the multiplayer portion?

for the UNSC side, there is Captain Cutter, Stg. Forge, and Professor Anders.

On the Covenant, there is the Prophet of Regret, the Arbiter, and a Brute Chieftain.

my Favorite for the UNSC side is Captain Cutter, because he has ODSTs as his special unit :)

not sure on my favorite for the Covenant

Mine are Captain Cutter (ODST and MAC) and the Brute Cheiftan (Brutes, Brute chooper and the Cheiftan himself). :thumbsup:

Hmmm, anyone unlocked the mysterious 7th one that supposedly can be used for both sides? Or did that get pulled from the release version?

I saw the achievement in the list but haven't finished the game yet. I assume one would have to complete Legendary to get that.

My guess is either the forerunners or flood would be the 7th one.

i downloaded the demo, and now i wish i had a spare £39, this is a brilliant game, and i take back my earlier sceptiscism.

just now its annoying because its something else to add to my ever increasing want list!

Its all your fault Majestic :p (jk)

I like the game. My brother owns it and I play it every so often. So, I got the best of both worlds.....Get to play it and for free..:D
