Well, for those that live in the UK, more specifically the South-West or Wales, how is the rain? Or, at least, how was it, as most of it has probably dried up by now.

I say the South-West or Wales, because I believe that is where the worst of it was. I know know about many other areas, but there was a lot of rain where I live, was raining through the night (non-stop), and all morning. This managed to flood the lake by where I work (extension for the Ducks and Swans on the lake), rose the River, and flooded parts of the factory. Had to get the Fire Brigade out to pump some of it away, the Sun helped with the rest.

I even had to move my Car (twice). First, when I got to work, I parked by the lake, then about an hour / hour and a half into the day, there was a call out, for everyone who parked near the lake, to move their cars. Why you may ask? Well, the place was flooded, like seriously. The water was up to the Car door, and my feet got soaked. Looked like the lake had doubled it size, easily covering the road.

And I share this with you because.. well, no actual reason for my doing so, I just thought it would be a nice topic to discuss: the rain, and how we are getting so much of it, in late June. April Showers seem to have been delayed until now.

It sounds like your getting all the rain we should have had in addition to your own. We haven't had any significant rainfall here in Southern Ontario for over a month. The grass is so yellow it looks like hay.

Oh no. I personally think it's there to stay. Even empty I don't think she will be able to get out, thats with the biggest tug boats in the world pulling her out.

Well don't anyone feel alone with all the flooding. Where I live we are getting more than our share too. At present rate, the river near my home will crest soon. We've gotten several times the amount of rain that we normally get by this time of the year. Normally, Oklahoma as a whole gets 35 inches of rain (2.5cm equal to 1 inch) during the entire year. We have as of yesterday got 29 inches year to date. We're expecting to get 6-8 inches out of this storm system (if not more) that is currently dumping on us. It's starting to look like an ocean in some places around here... (and I'm 1,200km or more from the nearest one).

Anyone got a boat they can spare?:lol2:

Where I live. I already have to take multiple detours to get anywhere in town. I also have to get my car checked out. I have to find out if the belt is loose or just wet. Well, time to go swim to work. LOL :lol2:

Lol , Could stay but i think they would try to salvage her :D . But thinking about it , its risky , she has run aground and most of her is on wet earth , look at the angle :p , even the rudder and prop is above water ! . If they try to tug her out then they would prob go and try to pull her out sideways ( more space ) , but they may capsize her i think

Time will tell :) , Will see if she will return to the waves or become your new monument :D

Well, I just checked, and the river near my home is within the threshold of cresting. They have the roads south of me closed off do to flooding. At this rate, I may not be able to go to work this weekend... Darn the luck.:) It's been a long time since my area got flooded completely. It looks like it may just do that this time. It has been raining almost non-stop for over 2 weeks here. The lake that feeds the river I live by is cresting already. The officials here are expecting the flood gate to be opened soon. There goes a lot of wheat and corn fields under water looks like. What a shame really. Considering how many people depend on the food that is grown in the mid-west US. Looks like things are going to get difficult soon. So, If I go offline anytime soon, my area is under water is all. But my house is 30 feet or more above the river level (I live on the highest point in the town since my old home got flooded out last year), so I will stay dry... Just not most of the town.

Not to offend anyone but I thought the Bible said God would not rid the Earth of the wicked by flood again? Your town doesn't have THAT many wicked people does it Syf? I know it has atleast a few good people. You are one of the good ones ofcourse.

Well, that a matter of debate. I think it says he will not destroy the "entire" earth with a flood. Small problem spots are something different.:lol2: That's why I moved to higher ground.

For those that choose not to read the bible, etc: No, this has not turned into a philisophical debate... Just a little joke here is all.

I stand corrected. Look at it this way. If the town floods then you will have your own little island for alittle bit. :lol2: :lol2:

This may seem like a silly question, but I am unsure about the geography of the UK, but is Bristol affected by the floods? I have some relatives there...

Sorry to break the discussion!

I wish I could offer you an answer, but I don't live in that region.

I took a drive today and well, there's a lot of flooding. The river that's cresting looks like it's going to wash away the bridge. Not good. I was looking around the crop fields, not good either. A majority of this crop was ready to harvest. But that's not going to happen right now. So, most of the crops will be washed away or drowned out is what it's looking like. I'm not sure how much more flooding we can have before all the roads are closed around here. I've already had the joy of driving through some covered roads. Some of the water was up to my door, and I have a good high vehicle. That makes the water on the roads away from the water bodies nearly a foot and a half deep in some areas. Looking outside right now, it's raining "cats and dogs" ATM.

What a fun time we're having this year...:(

I don't know much about that region either. Syf, raining cats and dogs? Is it safe for the cats and dogs to fall that far? LOL. Hope it dries up soon.

In Lincolnshire (north-east england below yorkshire) it has rained everyday for 3 weeks now, the river witham that runs through Lincoln, was up 2 or 3 meters over it's normal level, right up to the very top of the defences, I've lived here 6 years and the river has not being anywhere near this high.

Wimbledon's tennis is well behind thanks to rain delays.

Bristol is on the last bit of England before Wales, next to one of the biggest river mouths, so it might be damp there.

Final point, as the UK is an island, are we flooding or sinking?

I hope you guys get to dry out soon.

Here in my area, we're supposed to have an ongoing storm watch. It's actually been dry for the last 3 days. The rivers and flooded area are starting to recede.
