• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. ok guys i finally got legacy, i finally got a computer that supposedly can run legacy according to it minimum requirements. and yet when i try to play the game it is just lagggggg. I have the game settings down as low as possible, and the computer and video card set up to the highest possible limits. and the only thing that doesn't lag is the set up screen.

heres the stats
p4 2.66 ( I know it's right on the limit of the requirements)
2gigs of ram
Nvidia Geforce 5200 256 DDR card.
I don't know what else really matters. If you guys can think of why this thing is still lagging horribly can ya give me some clues? I was told this would run this game no problem.

Check the link in the thread known as Check your specs. Then I did, I found out why my game was lagging. You actually have to meet the recommended requirements to avoid lag, and the site that that link goes to, checks your computer to see if you meet those requirements. And they comes with a solution if you don't. :)

^ Hehe, what she said :) but do expect some lag and "phantom clicks" in the main menu, it seems to plague everyone who played Legacy. I do hope that you can get Legacy to work, even though it's got it's bugs it's still an interesting game to play.

Also note, if you want to play Legacy online I suggest you install the patches, if not then don't even touch the things; they only address multi player issues, and the 1.2 patch is know to cause a bug that disables nacelles from being blown off, and duplicates them when the ship is blowing up :x .

Where is this thread? I'd love to know why I cant play this game, as I meet and surpass the minimum requirements.

After I wrote that answer, I remembered that it was at another site, but the time to edit had run out. So I've asked Frog if he could ask Majestic to post up the link to the System Requirements Lab (that's the name of the site you can check your specs). I gave Frog the link so he could show it to Majestic, which he has done. So now it's up to Majestic (or someone else) to post that link. I sent that request to Frog because of the rules of this site about linking.

But I believe you will get the link soon, after all, all the site does is to check if your computer meets the requirements of the game you choose. :)
And show there you meet the requirements, and there you don't (if any), with suggestion on how to fix it.

The site helped me, and I hope you can get that help too.

Firstly keep the language down as CrazyFrog as said in his edit. This site has people as young as 11, and we don't want them subjected to that kind of language.

Now onto the topic, my advice would be go out and get the Xbox360 version, have never had a problem with it while I have heard there are many problems with the PC version and very few PCs can run it at a good speed.

I gave Frog the link so he could show it to Majestic, which he has done. So now it's up to Majestic (or someone else) to post that link. I sent that request to Frog because of the rules of this site about linking.

I gave Frog the go ahead, he will post it next time he is online. Just everyone be warned that site wants to download a file to your PC, I said no as I don't trust many sites myself that want to do that. Just be cautious and use at your own risk.

About the file the site wants you to download: I said yes, and I have had no problem with it. But I agree; use your own judgement about it. :)

ive got like 3 firewalls and 3 different anti virus/anti spyware programs. So I dont think I'll have any problems.

I dont have an x-box 360 and I wanted to be able to get the ultimate universe mod etc. But if I can't then oh well I've got other games to play. Like Armada lol.

Nvidia Geforce 5200 256 DDR card.

This is your problem right here FB. You need a GeForce 6200+ series or higher. Anything older doesn't support Pixel Shader 3, and it isn't fully OpenGL 2.0 compliant. You actually need a better video card, end of story.

Indeed. With that setup, you can play monster sized mods of A1 and A2.

Oh yes. 400+ ships on the screen at the same time in A2 and not even a HINT of slowdown. It rocks. lol
