• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Great stuff, I like the Andromeda videos, and the Stargazer battle was awesome. Shows off the Constellation class wonderfully... fantastic stuff!

Their is nothing "cannon" so it's still up in the air for some conjecture and debate. I prefer the other version as it reminds me more of the KA Egale DN and the Apoc King Condor which would be the previous designs and not the TNG Warbird which came later like that version does.

Technically the Melak Warbird is a TMP era design, as seen in the game New Worlds. However like many I see it way too advanced for the TMP era, and so feel it makes a better 2340-2350 design.

But as Starfox says it's all open to interpretation and using the designs he has doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the video.

On second glance though, the warbird he used bears a striking resemblance to the Fleet Ops Cehaler lol

Outstanding video, really excellent work.

I have that warbird in my install, actually I've used it in TLE screenshots before lol, nice to see someone else working with it.

Every time I see videos like these, it reminds me of how depressed I get when I see my models... :p

Maybe I should continue the tutorial, or buy 3dsMax? I've always wanted to create CG like that, and that may help for the fan film I'm going make in a distant future (if I ever make one...) :p

In terms of CGI I am not nearly as far as those guys. But anyways I thought I could contribute something:

It cuts of a bit quick at the end but a great start:thumbsup:

Sounds are from Legacy
My old Laptop needed ~9 hours for this video, lol

Very nice indeed Fahres, what programs did you use? I want to one day get into 3D animation like this. :)

Yeah right.
Im also not so happy with my camera movement. The camera follows the ship for a short while, I thought that might look cool with the moving stars, but it looks like the ship stops although it doesnt...

Thanks, i used 3DsMax 8.
Its very tricky. while you can understand MS3D without tutorials, you definitely need SOME for max. I also noticed that you cant edit sounds with max, maybe with newer versions but not with my version. So best is to create the audio file first and render the video after the sound. As you can hear the sound while you navigate with the cursor through the animation that would be pretty easy.
But ive lots of problems with max, sometimes if I move the ship, the lights keep there or i do an animation but nothing moves! I dont know why, its dumb.
So the 9 hours render time arent the problem. Just let your PC work through the night, but not in your bedroom ;)
You definitely need more time to set the animation up and the ship's light effects.

I'd probably use lightwave since I scored myself a copy of one of the latest version a while back before the PC decided it wanted a 2 week holiday.

Yeah my PC along with Kat's is in the lounge room, in our old house it was in the bedroom and boy were they noisy and heated the room up that in winter we were sweating and in summer well we had to turn them off to avoid heat stroke.
