• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Ive had a look around and I cant see any reference areas for fan based productions of trek, now I have heard/read several people talking about them, but with no reference as to how to get them for the people who dont know, so what I wanted to do was give a list of where togo, to get these from, for people (as I have found that they can be a great source of ideas for mods and can give a trek fix, while waiting for the next movie).

I don't usually allow links to other sites unless they meet certain requirements, but I don't see a problem with these fan films. Carry on.

Oh and thread stuck.

I will put up a link to Gatekeeper then it gets its own site. Gatekeeper's site is still being constructed.
By the way, should I post you the link first, Majestic? Just so you can check the site out.

PS.: Gatekeeper was previously called Nexus, but the name was changed then one of the producers found out that someone else was already using that name for their production.

If its a fan film you can just post it here. I don't have the time to go through all these links so I will just trust that on one will use this thread for advertisement and that the links they post don't conflict with the MSFC site rules.

As far as I can find out, USS Miranda was a RPG that ended earlier this year, and not a fan film.

For all of you that have that 70's nostalgia feeling from the animated series, here is something new.

Designed with 21st century technology, but designed to look just like the animated series of the 70's here is the animated adventures of the starship Farragut:

Guess this is the best place for this. Horizon has been released. not watched it yet though.

EDIT - ok, watched it now, I was quite impressed. I prefer it to Renegades, although I wish they'd laid off the JJ style lens flares and camera focusing, some of it made me feel rather ill. But I suspect some of that was to do with hiding distortions from superimposing in virtual environments. If it was then it was cleverly done.

My main gripe is that they unnecessarily over complicated the plot. The Romulan crewmen was completely irrelevant to the plot (they could have just had critical recon data for the initial chase scene and the crew could dislike her for being a replacement). Also whats with the Temporal Cold War? They've picked the Romulan War as a setting, the formation of the Federation, couldn't they have made it interesting enough without agents from the future?

In the spirit of Halloween:

And then there's also this one by the same people:

Both good considering that they are within the 15 minute limit - the second one is less than 7 minutes!

Found another one and it's only now I'm posting it that I realise it's by the same people as the ones I posted above.

I'm impressed with the way they made use of camera angles to make the most of the sets. I think this may be a channel to keep an eye on.

Never forget the late -aughts classic “Star Wreck in the Pirkinning” - Impressive VFX done mostly in Adobe AE and Premiere c. 2008?

is this the original Star Wreck? or the one with the remade visual effects? The OG had all Star Trek vs B5 ships.. and they got with copyright infringement I think, so they had to redo all of the effects with different models

yup.. the original. very nice.

Pacific 201 is up. Not finished watching it ye but my thoughts so far...
I'm very impressed with the sets. There are all sorts of little details in both the ship sets and ground sets which make them seem real.
I actually like the uniforms (which remind me of one I used to wear) and they feel like they could be a legitimate step between the NX jumpsuits and the TOS tunics (and ignoring the STD party suits).
The acting was (mostly) good. I've seen worse in pilot episodes of real shows.
Surprisingly for a fan production, I was a little disappointed by the space scenes, which I found surprising given the high quality spoiler shots. But I thought the CGI looked like models at times (in my opinion).

I must admit it looks good a bit short but that's Star Trek fan films these days due to the stupid restrictions placed upon them.

I was lucky enough to get to go to the sets of Axanar last September. Got to sit in the captain's chair on the bridge and grab lunch and talk with Alec Peters one-on-one for about an hour. Incredibly genial man, it was a real pleasure. I'm very excited with the recent footage and BTS from the new trailer.

Edit: For those who haven't seen the latest, it's included below.

I did, but not during that conversation. It was way back in 2014 when Prelude came out, I let him know that some excellent modelers here were working on an Axanar Ship Pack.

I am now part of those group of modellers then! Heheheh, I have been working on an Axanar-inspired fleet  . I am very looking forward for the new release of Axanar.

The romulan war fan film is interesting, I wish they did season 5 of Enterprise to show the build up and eventually the war. Plus that storm bird model isn’t to bad either in the fan film.
