The upcoming Doctor Who 2008 Christmas special will be fasttracked exactly a month after its UK airing. ABC1 will aired it on Sunday January 25 7:30pm.

Airdate: Doctor Who 2008 Xmas Special : TV Tonight

Only downside to this is that as far as I am aware Nickelodean isn't doing the same for Sarah Jane Adventures season 2 and they are the only spin-off episodes to have their original airings in the UK but not yet in Australia prior to the broadcast of the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.

Therefore I am probably going to be one of the few people in Australia who is up to date with all the Whoniverse episodes when this Christmas special comes on ABC1.

For those who chooses not to wait for the ABC broadcast of the upcoming Christmas special, the online audio commentary for it will be on BBC7 on December 28 (UK time).

Just go to the BBC7 site and go to the Programmes tab to look for Doctor Who: The Commentaries that is if it isn't displayed on its home page.

It is available for one week after its initial broadcast which means it will already be gone from there by the time the Christmas special comes on ABC1.

After having watched it yesterday, I wasn't actually all that impressed. So much, that I'd say I was dissapointed. With all the rumours that were going around, I expected more, much more.

I saw it last week. I quiet enjoyed it, I wouldn't say I was disappointed, more surprised the unexpected direction the storyline took.

And to be honest what MORE could they do in a 60 minute special?

It pretty much had everything did it not? Without giving anything away, for those who have not yet seen it. I have to ask what were you expecting?

As for rumours, I never pay any attention to chinese whispers.

While we respect others opinions, please refrain from using all caps words in a post. As an international standard for the internet, all cap words are considered shouting/yelling/screaming. This can be percieved as a hostile intent.

Having previously directed on Torchwood, this is Andy Goddard's first direction on the parent Doctor Who series in this enjoyable Christmas special.
When the teaser was the previewed at last year's Children In Need people have speculated that this was going to be like The One Doctor, Big Finish story with the Sixth Doctor and Mel in which someone pretends to be a Doctor. However this is more like another Big Finish story the season 27 closer Minuet In Hell (Eighth Doctor, Charley & the Brigadier) as it has an innocent bystander mistakenly thought that he is the Doctor. In the case of The Next Doctor it is Jackson Lake in a very good performance by David Morrissey.
Very funny upon seeing a Cybermen in a closet.
Very surprising on what the other TARDIS is and what it stands for.
A very pleasant surprise upon seeing the images of the past Doctors. With the inclusion of Eighth Doctor Paul McGann let's hope this puts to rest the debate of McGann being the Eighth Doctor.
I really enjoyed towards the end as the Doctor battles the Cyberking and also very special mention goes to Dervla Kirwan as Miss Hartigan.
While watching this I was wondering whether Donna was going to get a mention. Well she wasn't mention by name only that the Doctor says that some of his companions have forgotten him.

David Morrissey had been David Tennant's co-star in Blackpool. Morrissey was not first of David Tennant's Blackpool co-stars to appear with him in Doctor Who as Sarah Parish was in The Runaway Bride and Steve Pemberton in Silence In The Library/Forest of the Dead.

One of Morrissey's other notable roles was in State of Play with Master John Simm.
