• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Hello!

Rod, I have built several structures for the use as deep sea colonies.
(Images: see attachments)
The first one is an undersea train station (I think something like that was shown in the 3rd season of SQ)
The second one could either be a military installation, a research lab or a power plant.
The third one is a living habitat with two larger towers for generating energy or for docking purposes.

If you like those, I can back them up and send you a PM with the download link.
I plan on working on a subsurface oil rig and a sub-tanker, but I haven't come up with a good design for those as of yet.

Furthermore I had the idea to create a certain blue and diffuse environment (representing deep seas) with an object like the blue nebula. Just in a darker shade of blue and more subtle...
I'll try a few things out and keep you posted, if you wish.

They look great, I'll definatly take a look at them.

The nebula haze was an idea I've had as well but haven't even tried to figure out yet, so please give it a try if you can. I've been thinking of at least two types a dark grey or blue haze for deep water and a light blue haze for shallow water.

Hello:
I don't really know about SeaQuest and this mod, but those models really caught my eye. I hope you'll be able to get them all working properly, I like their concepts very much.
Keep it up!

Cool! I like! Always good to see more progress on this mod. I still have yet to really go back and watch the show but loved the concept and submarine designs.
The ocean effect can be done with two or three very large scaled high res texture sprite files. After playing enough EVE online I figured it out. When I can get my dedicated armada modding machine put back together I will try to get you some samples made.

Some kind of smoke/fog effect could do the trick so long as if fills the entire map.

I'm still have to figure out how to represent the see floor without it looking weird. I have been thinking of giving each facility a seafloor base like a seamount and fading the texture to into the background to make it look the mountain is fading into the distance.

A ambient fog would help sell that effect.

I was thinking "fog" could be Alpha textured so that I could change the feel of the maps with ambient lighting. A dark blue light for the deep sea and light aquamarine for the shallow seas.

I am also learning DarkBASIC, video game software. Though its gonna be for a space setting though maybe if I finish the basics we could do a seaquest version of it.

I did get the other machine put back together and have come to the realization that harddrive is dying in it. Figures... So when I can replace that I will try working on that effect for you.

I will also try out a few things using the nebulas.

Sorry, Rod, that I didn't send you the files yet, but I have red cross duty at this weekend and was busy learning for school beforehand. The coming week, I PROMISE!

Not to worry, I've been working on Star Wars stuff lately SQ is taking a back seat for the moment.
