To many Star Wars fans, Mickey Mouse might as well be wearing a black robe and be known as Darth Disney. Disney announced it is shutting down LucasArts and laying of a large number of programmers. They have also halted all internal game development and will be licensing the Star Wars name to outside developers.

News article here.

I saw this one Facebook, not impressed LucasArts was a pretty good gaming company the highlights were the Rogue Squadron series and the Force Unleashed and Knights of the Old Republic series.

I wonder if this means the MMO will come to a halt.

Not likely as that game was not done by LucasArts but licensed out to BioWare/EA.

Kind of a bummer, but to be fair, most of the better Lucas Arts games since 2000 were developed by other companies with Lucas Arts just doing the publishing or licencing, like KotOR.

Yeah I heard about this several months ago. Its sad to hear, especially for those working for lucasarts, but maybe for us it means we will get more star wars games made by bigger companies.
