• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Since I got a new laptop. I thought I would get back into trying some model making. Here is my first attempt at remembering how to work this stuff. It is only a WIP right now.

A good start, may I ask what program you are using?

I am using MS3D. Version 1.8.3 I think it is. The latest available for download. With some of the angles in the model. It is tough to get good enough screen shots to show them.

Just don't get in a hurry. modeling takes lots of practice and learning. And you can never "know it all".

I did some more work on it. I even named it. It is the Aldridge Class Starship/Carrier. If anyone has suggestions. I am open to them.

Looks good....

If all goes as planned, I hope to get my MS3D tutorial up and running within a couple weeks. I'm starting on a new trend, so hopefully, it sticks and I can start lining up my incomplete projects and getting them completed. The Tutorial is planned to come right after the RA "thingy" I'm working on.

OldFogey gave me a pic idea of a fighter. I am in the process of creating it. So the Fogey Fighter is a WIP.

Edit: Merged my own posts...

Well, It is ready for texturing. I thought I would post a pic of the WIP of the Fogey Fighter. Hope it is everything you wanted Oldfogey... Good thing you gave your approval already...haha

Now to work on the textures.

Your welcome. Hopefully soon I can show you how to use the program. Then you can work on some yourself. Then I can get your help. hehe

Looking good. You are making progress.

Now, let me throw caution here. You need to learn to limit your polygon usage. MS3D has a max of around 42,000 with MS3D 1.8.3 (Trust me, I'm testing it's limits right now). And if you ever want to make these game level models, they need a lot less polygon counts.

Thanks. I was going to check into slimming down the polys. Right now it wieghs just over 6,800 poly. I wanted to make it look good first. LOL.

I am also limited by the fact that I am using a laptop to do the work. Granted it is better than any system I have had before.
