• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Unfortunately at this time my life has gotten real busy, I had this particular design in my head for years but due to life currently I simply don't have the time to model it (my modelling experience is very limited currently).

I still want to submit an entry so I had to scale back the design a fair bit. So instead of making a cheap copy of the design I want I have done something different and done a design that I am making up as I go along. I am not all that happy with it but I thought a entry is an entry.

The idea behind this design is that it was designed more streamline that previous spaceships from earth to allow it to withstand the stress from FTL travel. The FTL travel for this ship/universe is similar to what is seen on shows like Andromeda, Star Wars and Transwarp from Star Trek that is a tunnel is created between two points basically shortening the distance between these two points.

The ship itself is rather smallish at roughly 500 meters in length (For you Star Trek fans think about the size of an Akira and those B5 fans about 1/4 the size of a EA Omega). The ship has no support craft and is a true prototype and will be the only one of her class.

Nice design, like the idea that it has to be streamlined to survive in FTL. I prefer more blocky designs myself (as visible by my entry) but can see the reasoning behind a fluid design.

A very good start - I'd say maybe add some detail to the centre bit and the backs of the engines.

Keep at it

Why do I get the feeling that her overall shape looks like the Galactica? lol It's very streamlined and looks fast

Thanks Amateur I too prefer blocky ships but for this one I decided something different. I've added some weapons and a temp bridge module since I posted that post. I still have more to do as I am only just approaching 5000 pollies. I am going to need to add a fair bit of model detail (something I am not used to doing) to get to the 10,000 mark. :lol2:

Yeah I noticed that too Jetfreak after I posted it, it wasn't my intention and in fact I didn't even use the ship (BSG) as inspiration at all.

Cool looking good Majestic, I can't do fluid designs as it just makes the polly count go through the roof (whenever I try anyway) But love the idea behind it. Back storys are fun. well look forward to seeing how it goes ok.

I see you went with the same line of thinking I did. The streamlined idea. I remember seeing an experement that NASA did. They tested to see if a ship in space needed to be streamlined. They tested this by using a basic paper airplane. They found that even if you flew it backwards. It would correct itself and fly front first. Thus they showed that drag has the same effect in space as it does on Earth.
