• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Don't know how many of you all play this type of game but if you do and haven't already purchased this one, I'd advise you hold off a bit longeras it is quite buggy at the moment. I have been trying to play it for several days now and it is one crash after the other. Hopefully, they'll get some patches made for this one soon. I like to play games and not beta test them for the companies and paying $60 for a game that doesn't work is maddening.

I've been tempted to buy it for the ps3 ($40 atm) but I haven't yet. On black friday it was as low as $35, so I think I will wait for it to get that low again,:D Interesting that it is buggy for the PC though.

well i play it on X-box, but its not buggy for me, even so the gameply is quite unsetteling, i prefer battlefield just because theres more point to the multiplayer modes, than just run and gun.

Yeah, generally I am not fond of "shoot 'em ups" either, but after playing them for a while, I decided that they really were just "mindless video games." Not realistic enough to offend me, and there really is no point to the online gameplay. I don't like the concept much, but just running out to shoot your friends is still fun IMO. Of course, none of it beats Airsoft or paintball, but it is a lot cheaper int he long run.

Meh. FPS games are fun, really, and if they were realistic, they wouldn't be as much fun. Did anyone of you play NOLF? I still love that game. The only FPS that made me laugh hysterically while being slaughtered by evil guys. There's not much thinking in there, but huge loads of fun.

And now I'll shut up, grab my +3 Longsword of Retro Gaming and head for the Dungeons of Doom once more. :yum:

What format are you playing it on? I've been playing it on PC fairly regularly, both singleplayer and multiplayer (working through 2nd prestige), and apart from some issues with xfire in game, it has not crashed on me once, and same with my friends who play it.. so if you are having these issues on PC then it *could* be on your end.

The point to the online gameplay is just for quick games and fast paced action. I know if I have 20 minutes to kill, I can jump into a couple of TDM games, or play one of the longer game modes (Domination, Kill Confirmed, Demolition, etc). So thats the point to the online game play, for ease of jumping into a game and needing little to no instruction to play. Its not meant to be realistic.

I play Battlefield as well, and in my opinion, they are two completely different games, the only similarities is the fact they have guns. If I want a game that could take up to an hour (if you count both rounds, depending on the game mode and how many tickets the server has set), then I could play Battlefield. If I don't have the time but have a craving for shooting at a bunch of computer models then I can play Call of Duty.

NOLF as in 'No One Lives Forever'? I played the demo, always meant to get the game but I had no money at the time :p
