A new series a prequel to BSG and Sequel to Caprica is underway. Called Blood and Chrome it's a series set in the Cylon War and tells the exploits of a young Ensign William Adama on-board the newest Batttlestar, the Galactica.

GALACTICA SITREP: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

New York, NY – October 22, 2010 – Syfy is readying an exciting all-new chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga with a greenlight for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome from Executive Producer David Eick, it was announced today by Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. Universal Cable Productions will produce the 2-hour pilot with Syfy utilizing cutting edge CGI and virtual technology.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20's and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet... the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.

"The 'Galactica' universe as re-imagined by Ron Moore and David Eick is rich with possibilities and backstory," said Mark Stern. "We jumped at the chance to revisit the William Adama character and explore this exciting chapter in the BSG narrative which falls between the events of the original series and the prequel, 'Caprica,' currently airing on Syfy."

"While maintaining the themes of politics, social propaganda, and the timeless question: what does it mean to be human? – 'Blood & Chrome' will also return us to the authentic, relentless depiction of combat and the agony and ecstasy of human-Cylon war, which was the hallmark of 'Battlestar Galactica's' early seasons," said David Eick.

Michael Taylor wrote the teleplay from a story by Eick, Taylor and Bradley Thompson & David Weddle.

Personally I would've preferred if they did another Battlestar with another crew, it's starting to feel like Star Trek a little using the Galactica and Adama again to me personally.

Hello:
Well, yes, it would have been nice to see other characters, but at least we'll get to know Commander Nash, and we might see other Colonials designs for starships and maybe even some starbases... we can always hope that.

But I am also looking forward to see more about the old Cylons and how they thought things,... maybe, by watching Caprica, would be better understandable, but it might still make sense even for those who has not been that prequel (like me).

Still, I am looking forward to know more.

I have to agree with Maj here.

And I hope this is a good SciFi war show, not a love tale...

I think it would be a good look into Adama's past honestly. Unfortunately this is a "syfy" production which means it will probly be c***...BSG was ok but syfy totally botched and screwed caprica up and then cancelled it after the show was just starting to develope. Yes I want to see Blood and Chrome but syfy is just so disapointing anymore....I have lil hope that it will capture any of the magic that BSG had. I even have written letters to the network expressing my disapointment in the direction the network has taken in recent years.

With that being said I do look forward to this new chapter in the reimagined BSG stroyline. This feature really could show the transition of man embracing machines and technology to man ridding itself of technology out of fear.

One last thing..the newspost of this is a little old, I have a nasty feeling that syfy will can this idea in favor of doing another paranormal "reality" show instead. I did see a newer newspsot a few weeks ago but I think it just confirmed some actors who signed on for the project.

Sorry if this post seems anti "syfy" network....I really do hope Blood and Chrome makes in to the sceen.

Personally, I'm very excited to hear about this. It'll probably take years until we can see in in Germany, but I nonetheless look forward to it. I have to admit that Husker was my favourite character in BSG, and I'd love to see more of him in his younger years. :excited:

Hmmm, a new series then eh? So does this mean that the planned BSG "film" is canceled? I heard another team (Larson and Singer) was planning one, but more on tone with the 1978 original.

In any case, I'll just have to wait and see. Hey, at least we get to see the Bucket' in pristine condition again!

I don't know, I certainly hope not as I was looking forward to the new take on the classic that Larson was doing. :)

As long as the new series is nothing like Caprica then I'll be happy!

Man, those Cylons are creepy. Even creepier than their TNS versions.

So I think we can be sure this one will come. Any idea on how we're going to abbreviate it? BSG:B&C? TVNS? CapriChrome? :p

I think Blood and Chrome will be good.

Husker has a very unique voice which allows you to identify him easily. Not only that, but i really want to see more of the 1st Cylon War. There will be tons of new characters and prolly many new battlestars. Husker isn't exactly tied to the galactica this time around. He can be fluid and move about.

Yeah, Husker is kool! :D I also want to see more of the first war, especially what initially started the Cylon revolt.

Caprica is alot like the Phantom Menace. Hated by most...but as much as we hate it...it sets up the universe and lays out the reason why.

This is usually the most boring point...but it stops us from wondering "where did this come from?" "why did this happen?" "Who created them?"

Blood and Chrome looks to be action packed, have a HUGE amount of possible storylines and I think will offer a **** good show.

tbh, I loved EP1. Becides the inclusion of Jar-Jar, it was a pretty good movie. It has, hands down, the best lightsaber fight scene out of all the movies.

I didn't really get into Caprica, but I herd it was an okay series.

Eh, I stick by my claim that 2 on 1 doublebladed-awesomeness was the best.:)

But back on topic.

the last few episodes of Caprica were actually quite good...and despite the final episode being rushed they did make an effort to show the origins of the cylons religious views and who and what fueled their initial revolt.

The final episodes were good because they tied the series back into what you know and wanted from the beginning. They drifted too far into plotlines nobody cared about in the middle.

Posted by =rclarkjnr on Deviant-Art in the group Galactica Actual:

“Blood and Chrome†is set in the 10th year of the second Cylon War, which – unfortunately for our gung-ho hero – looks like it’s about to come an end.

Not only am I lucky enough to know some of the folks working on the series but I’ve been fortunate enough to have read the pilot script. And let me say right off the bat, if you like Ron Moore’s “Galactica†reboot, and to an extent J.J Abrams’ “Star Trekâ€, you’re gonna love “Battlestar Galactica : Blood & Chromeâ€. It’s Frakkin’ Excellent.

Obviously inspired by Orci and Kurtzman’s “Trek†reboot script (and to some extent, “Top Gun†– don’t let that frighten you), the “Blood and Chrome†pilot paints our hero – young William Adama as opposed to young James T.Kirk – as a confident, slightly conceited and highly-skilled rookie who, though finishing the top of his class, has a hard time convincing some of his colleagues that he’s the right man to be leading the charge against the Cylons.

The pilot, of course, starts off with young Adama completing his final graduate piece at the Academy. Once we’re convinced he’s ‘the man’ it’s onto well… you know where.

Rather swiftly, the hot-shot ladies man finds himself on military transport (like a space-age version of C-17), alongside other graduates (like Lt. Jaycie McGavin; she’s not a big part of the pilot but guessing she’ll turn up later on

– Adama hits on her on the carrier), headed for his new place of employ. Adama’s very eager to get up there in a newly-polished Viper and starting kicking some Cylon ass… before the wars over.

Adama’s been assigned to the Galactica, a broken-down old vessel run by the equally as weary Silas Nash. His first mission? Fly a ‘Raptor’ – yes, a frakkin’ ‘Raptor’ – into battle. The mission? prevent some things from going BOOM! (Cylons have peppered the rocks with explosives).

Adama, of course, does NOT want to be flying in an enemy carrier.
The Caprican approaches his Raptor – ‘Wild Weasel’ painted across the fuselage – the same one Coker, his new co-pilot and ECO, has been cleaning the guts of a former pilot out of. Coker’s not there when Adama crawls into the grimy guts of the ship (should make for an amusing scene) but turns up just as the young ‘rook’ is pushing some of the inside gunk onto the hanger floor. Needless to say, having finished cleaning up the thing, Coker’s none too happy… so already Adama’s in the bad books.

Coker’s not a bad guy though. He’s hard, and he’s got a tough shell, but seems only a pain in the arse because he cares about the wellbeing of his co-pilots – and hates losing people. He’s also not too sure about having a youngster like Adama, essentially straight out of school, as his wingman – especially when he’s only 45 days away from being discharged. Alas, they have to put their differences aside – only takes most of the episode; they argue consistently throughout the pilot and near come to physical blows at one point – and get on with the job. (Their relationship actually reminds me a lot of Riggs’ and Martaugh’s in “Lethal Weapon†where, following some really heavy war stories they’ll end up sharing, they bury the hatchet – over a drink.)

Adama quickly earns a nickname, Husker – named so because of those that couldn’t steer their tractors right back on flask-carrying Coker’s home planet, Aerilon. The former hates it. Too late.

We quickly learn that Coker comes from a farming community, originally; Adama, however, has spent most of his life in the city – Caprica city. Again, just the writers way of telling us ‘these guys are from different places but will ultimately be the best darn unit out there’.

The assignment that makes up the guts of the pilot has to do with Adama and Coker transporting a young Doctor Dr.Beka Kelly to Scorpian. It’s a routine mission that both pilots envision will be a relaxing cruise alongside the stars for two days (it’s described as a ‘milk run’ by Adama).

Shortly after takeoff Dr.Kelly hands Adama and Coker their ‘new orders’ – straight from the Admiralty. It indicates that they’re not to go to Scoprion but to rendezvous with the ship Archeron which is, we’re informed, “right on the edge of Cylon-controlled spaceâ€. Though reluctant, Adama and Coker are told they’re not allowed to make contact with Galactica until Archeron.
We learn on the trip that Dr. Kelly worked for Graystone Industries, helping design the last version of the MCP chips – their brain; the part of them that made them smarter and better killers – for the Cylons.

Adama and Beka form a bit of a bond on the ship – she feeling so guilty for helping perfect the Cylons and all – and ultimately… have sex! Yep, Adama gets jiggy with it!

The rendezvous with Archeron doesn’t go as planned – I’ll leave it at that. Oh, and, well, naturally, it’d seem the War will not be coming to an end anytime soon.

As I said, it’s very Abrams’ “Star Trek†(there’s even a sequence set on an Ice Planet that Adama and Coker crash on) but mostly, it’s the “Battlestar Galactica†you know and love – what with it’s cool-*** spacely dogfights, twists and turns, treachery… I think this will be a huge hit.

It sounds pretty good, but then again we wont know for sure until we see it all unfold up on screen for ourselves. I'm a bit disappointed that everyone's favourite one eyed frakkin skin job Saul Tighe doesn't make an appearance since he and Adama were supposed to have been friends since back in the days of the first Cylon war. But maybe he will make an appearance as the series progresses. Anyway what's the verdict BSG fans? You liking the sound of this so far?

Im refusing to get excited until I have watched this. SyFy as been disapointing in recent years in production quality and in other areas as well. So until I watch this I wont make a prediction or even say its boring or intresting or whatever until I see how they present the concept in the pilot.

It looks like its going to be good, least the mini-series part of it, don't know how it'll work as a full series.

Wondering how/if they'll merge it with the limited backstory that we got in Razor and the deleted scenes of young Adama/Tigh interactions that they had in season 2.

To answer ur question SGU and Merlin also the so called reality shows as well like ghost hunters etc...the sci-fi eh eh hmm excuse me SYFY orginal movies also seem to really lack substance. I just feel that as a whole the network has really changed focus. I cant really decribe it acurately but it just does not feel like a sci-fi devoted network anymore. I compare the network to what it was 5 years ago and it just feels very blah to me now. Perhaps the network has grown beyond my tastes. Its just an opinion. In fact other than the marathons they run of certain older shows and james bond movies I dont watch it anymore. I for sure will watch Blood and Chrome just to watch it and if I like it then cool. If I dont then oh well and I will tune out.

I have other opinions about the SYFY network and its shows but that is not what this topic is about.
