• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Hello, MSFC Community!

It's Poll Time again. This time, we bring you the Big Fat Summer Poll.
Yeah, we know... for some of us, summer is almost over. And others don't even have summer right now (I'm looking at you, Australians!). But then, you could still read this as "What would you take with you on your summer vacation?" So, let's do it.

Did we forget something? Or do you take something really crazy with you? Then tell us! We want to know!

That's it for now. In two weeks, we will bring you the next poll. Until then, vote and have fun!

MP3, Paper, Swimming stuff...

...and the family. Always go with my parents and little brother, became a sort of tradition and is one of the main 'family' things we do together.

I suppose that you could include 'lots of books', as my MP3 is an iPod Touch with the Kindle app. on it - so I carry around a selection of stuff ranging from Dante Alighieri's 'The Divine Comedy' to 'The QI Book of the Dead' to the first three Discworld novels.

Mainly I don't use any of it though, can't swim so I don't even know why I own swimming gear, and we're usually out and about somewhere so I don't get chance to sit down and have a read or do some writing.

Me and the GF took a driving / hiking / beach holiday around Northern Italy. Started off around Brescia, around Lake Garda, then drove to the Dolomite Mountains (southern Alps) and climbed and hiked a little (we climbed Piz Boè, at 3152m over sea level iirc) The highest peak in the region!

Then we drove to Garda town, on the east coast of Lake Garda for a little well deserved R&R after the mountains...

So, Swimming Gear, Sunscreen, Books, maps and hiking boots for me... and a Ford Fiesta hire car...

My main choices for this poll:
Sunscreen, Swimming gear, Paper (and a pen - or pencil - obviously), Family, Something else (tell us!).

My summer vacation was spent with my family plus a number of close relatives.

Our excursion was during the last week of April as I recall. With beaches all across the country, there was swimming and get togethers. Oh, and since there was a computer shop nearby, I was able to stay in touch with yous lol. The sun here is a killer so sunscreen was a must. I also made it a point to bring a paper and pen to occasionally doddle around here and there. And the "something else" happened to be my cellphone :D.

Haven't had a summer holiday for years, 2002 to be exact. Hopefully Kat and I along with the kids and perhaps some friends will go away camping this Christmas (our summer). We love 4wding and Camping. :)

Things I always take on vacation.

- My A2 addiction. Because one never knows where or when a fellow A2 fanatic will suddenly appear.

- My laptop, to help with my A2 addiction.

- My complete collection of digitally remastered episodes of TOS, TNG, DS9, & VOY, to watch on my laptop, to help with my A2 addiction.

- My primary and secondary backup discs of A2, to use on my laptop, to help with my A2 addiction. One cannot be too prepared for disaster.
NOTE: Original disc and tertiary backup are placed in high security, temperature controlled, separate storage sites while I am on vacation.

- My WiFi Guidebook, to find hotspots, to use my laptop, to help with my A2 addiction.

- My family. Because my wife makes me. And none of them help with my A2 addiction.
NOTE: Sometimes while I am on vacation, she makes me go...outside! (gasp! The horror! The horror!)

I've never been on a summer vacation, but the next best thing would be living near the beach (which we do) so I'll settle for that, oh yeah and like Maj said, we are hoping to go camping this Christmas (summer for us) hopefully somewhere with lots of water for swimming!

What no Enterprise?:p(not that i blame you, but there are some good episodes)

I take things similarly to you, but not any ST movies ect, I can watch them online, and I actually take my original a2. I don't know why, I just never made a backup, so I actually play with my origional. always have, and it is still in great condition.:)

For myself, I just took a few days off and stayed at home. Work has been getting busier and busier which left me burnt out with very little energy to do much traveling. On the positive side, the time off at home gave me some modeling time which has been few and far between as of late.

So to answer the question, I guess it would be nothing since I did not go no where.

I strongly suggest you make at least one back up and keep the original stored in a safe place. To get the game again you'll by playing like $200 off ebay or something like that as they are so hard to find that the price is crazy. These days I wished I never gave my second original copy (of A1, A2 and Elite Force) to a friend that is no longer a friend.

Nero Burning Rom/Suite is the best program I have found. I have used it for close to 5 years now and don't trust any other programs like I do with Nero. In fact I burnt a second back up of A2 just a couple of weeks ago for the Boy who wanted to play it on his mother's laptop when I was testing out a mod I am making. :)
