From Wikipedia:
"Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming was a project to create a pilot film for a proposed new Battlestar Galactica television series that would pick up where the original 1978 series left off. All continuity related to Galactica 1980 would have been completely ignored."

Only a pilot film of The Second Coming was made in 1998-99 which was executive produced and co-directed by Richard Hatch who reprised his role as Apollo. Also in it were Richard Lynch (in place of Patrick Macnee as Count Iblis), John Colicos (Count Baltar), and Terry Carter (Colonel Tigh).

Hatch however did not succeed in getting Universal's attention for The Second Coming. Battlestar Galactica eventually returned to television via a different project that of Ron Moore's reimagined version.

The thirty minute pilot film of The Second Coming has never been shown publicly. Richard Hatch however did show a trailer at science fiction conventions and it proved to be popular.

I have just seen the trailer myself and I think I would have enjoyed The Second Coming as a series than Ron Moore's reimagined BSG.

It was a well done production for fans and former actors. I do think instead of this new BSG movie to once again re-imagine the series they should go from this. :)

Agreed Majestic :)

This seems to be more of a continuation than a re imagining.

as for the Movie - how many re imaginings can a franchise take?

As a sci fi fan, I would deffinately go see the movie, but Im a little against this dumbing down of our beloved shows (see Star Trek xi) it was good as a stand alone movie, and dont get me wrong, I liked it - but it really glossed over and dumbed down a hell of alot...

I just hope BSG escapes being "JJised"

Good call on ignoring the BSG1980 continium though... that show really sucked...:naughty:

Oh it did, while I have it on DVD, just so my BSG collection is complete it's not all that good.

The flying bikes were a joke and the high jumping kids on the farm was stupid. I think the best episode of the series was the one with Starbuck and his Cylon friend.

Although the episode where they went back in time to stop that scientist to giving the Nazi's advanced technology wasn't too bad, emphasis on the word too.

Hello:
I just saw the video and it is amazing! Seeing that Super Basestar blowing up a civilian ship and then others been damaged... there are still TNS designs like the Botanical Cruiser, and the TOS/TNS Raiders are awesome, I'll sure build one of those, I need new Cylon stuff to face the Battlestar I have made:D.
Nice video, and I agree, it sure looks better than the new movie their are trying to do. But as for me, I am waiting to see "The Plan".
