Found this by accident by Googling: Battlestar Galactica. The company which made it is called Bigpoint and I believe they are based in Germany. Ignored it until I got some free time and was impressed by the quality and tyhe fact it is free to play. There are purchase items and levels available I am sure but I'm not looking for them. Here are some pics. And yes, that is me. Pretty amazing how close the game avatar is to my appearance. Only thing it won't do is allow me to make the beard and moustache grey instead of dark brown. Neither of them has been this color for a looong time, lol. Worth checking out and looks to be a lot of fun. I haven't played anything but one or two of the tutorials but they were the equal of anything else I've purchased in terms of playability and graphics.

I've known about this for a few months now, but haven't investigated it. I heard it was a browser game which turned me off, however from the looks of it it looks more like something you install on your hard drive, which I hope is true.

I've known about it... And played it for some time. I would have posted about it, but the adds were everywhere and I figured you guys already saw it.

It is cool, but it didn't capture my attention for very long.

I was active in the closed beta testing for this. I ended up walking away from it because of extremely long loading times and boring missions. It uses the unity web player which stores the downloaded game files and then u play from ur browser. The graphics are good or bad depending on ur pc specs. Lag though was an issue for me. Another issue for me was its BIGPOINT which IMO are not very customer freindly from my past experiences with them when I played DO.

If u like BSG its definitly worth a try but being a browser game and a somewhat graphic intense game lag may become a hard issue to overcome if you are not near one of the games servers. I personally just dont have the time nor patience to invest with BIGPOINT again...even if its free its not worth my time.

Well, jeez. I don't know what to say. Probably should've avoided posting this, I suppose. Sorry to waste people's time. Could one of the Admins please close and lock this? Thanks.

That's overreacting, so some don't like it, so what. That happens with every post on every forum. I won't be closing or deleting this thread, nor will any of the staff.

Fair enough. Sorry for the row. Had I known it would get the response it's gotten, I never would have posted anything at all about it.

Hello:
Don't feel bad Thunderfoot, because if it weren't you, then somebody else would have posted about it and is very likely to have received the same replies. As Majestic said, it is bound to happen, and trust me, I have seen way worse things :silence:.

So don't feel bad about it, this is not over yet and the topic might become a better one soon.

Yea, and for all the people who didn't like it or already knew about it, I'm sure there are many of those not posting who had no idea

Hello:
I knew that the people from BSG Online wanted to hire some of the modellers from Diaspora, to help with some models. I think that is awesome, even though I don't know if that was finally made or not.

I also forgot to comment about your avatar Thunderfoot. He looks just like you, so I guess the game is highly customizable, which is always great.

Hmm looking back at my post I feel I was too negative for what this thread was intended to be. I apologize. I have history with BIGPOINT so I tend to become overheated and a stern critic when it comes to them radther than being a impartial jury.

I really would like to stress that for people who are looking for a decent BSG space sim BSO is worth a try. I did enjoy it for lil while and best of all its free...for the most part.

No probs, Ryder. You'd think by now I'd have learned to keep my fingers off the keyboard and let everyone assume I am an idiot, rather than post something and remove their doubts. There are very few BSG games anywhere and I made an incorrect assumption this would be something people might want to look into. Par for the course, lately.

Necro-post!

I played BSGO in closed beta and I found it quite fun, and I still play it now after taking a break.

Back during closed beta the game was in a pretty bad way, there was massive server unbalance, as everyone wanted to be a viper pilot which resulted in around 5:1 ratio of colonials to cylons. They have "sort of" fixed this in most servers, mostly to a ratio of 2:1 or 3:1.

Personally I play Cylon, its more enjoyable to me and the guys/girls in my wing (equivalent of a guild/clan) are quite dedicated.

When I first started playing as a Cylon on the Sagittaron server we were getting our butts kicked all over the place and the sector map was mostly blue. Though recently we've been on the offensive 3 or 4 times a day with a fleet of 30+ ships, and putting colonials in their place. The sector map is often colourless at times lol.

I will admit that it can be pressing to get upgrades and levels at times due to the grind, but the fact it is ALWAYS PVP it sometimes makes for an interesting experience.

The real money currency in the game is costly irl, but offers a fast shortcut to anyone willing to invest.
