Odd, I've preordered two sets of this movie; one for me and one for my mom.

The one for me I ordered from amazon.com, but since it's region 1 and mom don't have a multi region dvd player, I choosed to order hers from another place. (I've been notified that as soon as the dvd is in stock at amazon (31. July) they will send it to me.)

The one I ordered for my mom, I ordered from cdon.com, and they say the same release date as amazon. (Cdon.com, if I'm not mistaking, is Swedish, because I got a dvd from them today and it had Swedish text written at the back of it (there they say what the story in this movie is). But it also has English subtitles, that I for some reason understand more than Swedish even if Swedish is closer to my language... )

I must admit I always use Amazon. (the Uk one) But they still have nothing listed, except for an imported soundtrack for The Lost Tales, sheduled for release July 24th.

Being a UK resident, I always buy region 2 out of habit. I hadn't thought about buying a region 1 instead. I may just do that, to save waiting an extra 5 or 6 weeks. Thanks for the idea :)

I just saw it, and while I was disappointed at the lack of a totally cool drawn out space battle, the two "episodes" were fairly well done, albeit they were thinking man's scifi more than shoot 'em up get the baddies scifi.

I've watched them tonight, there were good, not great. I think they really needed to be great in order for this to be a continuing thing but they were at least enjoyable.

Some nice touches, the acknowledgment of Richard Biggs and Andre Kastulas and there characters (Franklin and G'kar respectively) was nicely done. Nice CGI work throughout, though the whole thing was brought down by low production values on many of the practical sets and much of it felt low budget (even for B5).

All in all was it worth my $24 plus tax, sure but not much more then that.

Rod (just glad to have B5 back)

I purchased this on release, not that my avatar is any indication I like B5 or anything.

I loved the intro after the credits, it was like seeing "Sleeping in Light" for the first time again. Effects were much more robust and it was great to see some old friends again; Lochley is still as beautiful as I remember.

I thought the movie was good to very good, but as Rodglas said it wasn't great. For me that had to do with the first half of the movie; it wasn't poorly done but the theme JMS selected felt out of place for the B5 universe. I won't go into details about it for those that haven't seen it but as it unfolded I expected some kind of turnaround that might make it more compatible to established B5 lore, something more alien/telepath oriented as opposed to what it was.

The second half was much more back to B5 roots and there the movie picked up dramatically for me. Sheridan/Galen, nuff said. I liked the moral dilema, I like the setup and how it plays out.

Like many I expected a little more in the invasion sequence; not a long 15 min battle but more than what was shown. Still it was beyond awesome seeing Warlocks, even if they were severely nerfed against their opponents. Jeez these things are supposed to be able to go toe to toe with a Sharlin but I digress.

The tributes to Biggs and Katsulas was very sentimental, loved them.

Overall the movie was very worth it for me also. It's too bad that they probably won't have more bigger scale productions if the dvds continue in terms of cast; JMS said these are more personal stories so there's little chance there will be one with the entire cast playing a part. I do have hope for the future with these movies however, I am dying for a 2-4hour conclusion to Crusade...cure to the Plague, Omegas and Warlocks blasting the hell out of the Dra'kh, Galen, Gideon and the Excalibur, even Bester if they follow the novels. Here's hoping.

I think it is out in Germany already.
I have no free money for buying DVDs currently, so I have not yet bought it...
Actually, I am eagerly awaiting the BSG DVD movie "Razors".

Here's something interesting:

The DVD I purchased from Amazon.com, came within a week after it's release.
But the one I purchased for my mother from Sweden (my neighbor country) was sent first yesterday, and I still waits for it! Apparently it goes faster to get a DVD from across the globe, than from your neighbor...

That is true, but I don't really like buying online. Too much of a security risk, I only have a debt card to pay for this site and apart from that have only used it once or twice.

Not that I know of. The main shop I buy from is EzyDVD, a small DVD shop who seem to get the DVDs always on time and you can pre-order and I know the guys fairly well in there.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think I will just wait.

I just got the Season 1 DVD box sets for EFC and Seaquest and SG Atlantis Season 3 comes out tomorrow added with Halo 3 that I will be picking up on Thursday or Friday (came out today) I think I will be quite busy for a while.

Just been reading this months SFX, and JMS has said he wants the next lost tales to be Londo and Garabaldi, he is just waiting for the green light from WB (he also hinted that they would all eventually link together).

Recently saw The Lost Tales.

Under the umbrella title Voices In the Dark it consists of two seperate stories one for Col. Elizabeth Lochley (Tracy Scoggins) and the other for President John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner).

The stories are not action packed which no doubt would be a disappointment to many B5 fans.

Instead they are thought provoking stories which I think was presented well.

Ultimately I find the two stories about what it is to be a living being as Lochley's tale was about faith and Sheridan's about choice.

It is quite good how the film says goodbye to the late actors who played G'Kar and Stephen Franklin, Andreas Katsulas and Richard Biggs respectively as well as the memorials on the two included in the special features.

The rest of the special features overall are quite fun with JMS revealing that he wanted to tell the stories with puppets! The most amusing of the special features is the last segment of the Fireside Chats which is about the director (guess who?) Quite funny what JMS had to say about this.

I would like to point out that the real B5 fans are the ones who enjoy the rest of B5 for it's thought-provoking stories, not just the action parts =)

There are a couple of things which have taken a bit of thought as to how it fits in with the rest of the B5 Universe (the demon, for one thing... an outcast Vorlon maybe? You know how they love all these metaphors of angels and demons. And Quantum Space... pointless...), but all in all I enjoyed it. Especially the introduction monologue from G'Kar... priceless.

I really like the look of it, the new CGIs, the old Earthforce Uniforms... ahh, that makes me sentimental.
