Normally I would post something like this in the PC section like I did with the Starship Troopers game, but this one is special.

Babylon 5: I've Found Her is a FAN made freeware PC game. Its set in 2254 with the player taking on the role of Alpha Leader of a Starfury Squadron. It has something to do with a Narn system and the Earth Alliance is moving in to claim one of their unexplored planets due to the mass amounts of Quantium 40 and raw materials. I have only played the first mission and I failed so decided to go back to play the tutorial.

Its quite different to most sci-fi space shooters as the Starfury files just as on the show, you can easily fly past your target as those things are fast. I almost ran into the Omega class Destroyer that Alpha Squad are assigned too.

All the sound effects are their from jumpgates to the Starfuries main guns. You can even fly in hyperspace or so I heard, can't wait too see how lost I get.

There are several enemies that you can fight in this game, I have only been against Radiers in their Fighters that were seen in the first two season of Babylon 5. They out numbered my squadron and the cargo ship we were protecting was destoyed at the local jumpgame. :x

Its a big download (over 200mb) but it is worth it. They have just released a skrimish pack which I have yet to download.

If you only have a keyboard and mouse, I strongly suggest in a gamepad as you are going to need it. I went out on my shopping spree today and bought one.

If you are a gamer and/or Babylon 5 fan you have to check this out. For a game that is free is is well worth it. I give these guys my full support on their Black Omega expansion that they are currently making.

I have download and installed the game but cant seem to get it to work. I'm not sure why but I tried on 2 different computers one nothing happens it just cuts out the other it's upside down and I cant figure out why.

Grammar and spelling fixed once again. Please double check this before posting. It only takes a couple of seconds. - Majestic

I had that problem, too. Try windowed mode.

Hmm I dunno, I suggest having a look round on their site and forum, when I looked a few months ago stuff was being done, albeit slowly, but if you want to know, that would be the place to look =)

That game is dead. Sad. It really could have been something special. I played it about a year ago and was seriously annoyed when nothing else came out of it. Too bad. I doubt it will ever be picked up again.

There has been a ship pack release a while ago...

but I agree, the game appears to be out of production.

sad too, it was a fun game, a little hard, but still worth playing.

its apparently packed with easter eggs. too, (apperantly you can go to Z'ha'dum. and you should guess what happens when your there, i've never tried to go there, because i get to bored flying through hyperspace.)

EDIT: ! i just went to there website. and it appears that the game is back in production with a new instalment to the game "Deltawing"

which you apparently get to fly a Zephyr 109 fighter (the Raider's Deltawing from Seasons 1&2, and the same fighters that Majestic got his butt kicked with :p)

"Arise, Necro Thread! I command thee!"

Just D/L'd this and ran through the first tutorial mission. :Y Beautiful graphics. Nicely done GUI. All of this is professional grade work!
Why aren't these guys on payroll at one of the few remaining PC game companies? This is on a par with the first space combat flight sim I ever played, X-Wing, on a 486/25MHrz IBM PC. Loved that game. Then I found T.I.E. Fighter. OMG! I burned through about three joysticks and three copies of the game before I was sated enough to realize one could not play games all day long.

I think I may have just found my next lovely obsession. :excited:

Unfortunately, it's so realistic that a mouse and keyboard isn't quite enough to comfortably use all the controls.

The game has a fairly high learning curve, but once you get past that it's an amazing game.

"Realistic" does not begin to describe the level of detail put into the physics packages and the controls. I spent the better part of two hours learning how to just use the thrusters and flying about. Then I discovered the joys of sliding. w00t! Next, I tried rolling and just doing some basic aerobatics. Split ess. Immelmann. A defensive scissors with my element leader. A barrel roll. Some chandelles and setting up some high angle deflection shots. I learned very quickly to remain stationary is to die in an eyeblink. I also re learned equally quickly just how badly addictive any flight sim is to me. I have an ancient Saitek joystick which I purchased at Wal Mart for US $20.00. It cannot even begin to cover the range of things I need to do in this game to be successful. And to be successful in this game will require a joystick or controller which approaches HOTAS capabilities. Any suggestions as to a proper controller for this? I'd really like to fully immerse myself in it and not ever come out. Not even for food. No, I am not kidding. No secret how much I love A2. But this has replaced A2 in the space of about three days and I am not really regretting it.

I think the best control set up would probably be twin joy sticks with plenty of buttons and two or four pedals, like for racing. That should cover rotation and thrust on all axes in addition to having plenty of buttons for targeting, firing, the match speed feature, etc. You could also substitute one of the joy sticks for a mouse if you prefer or if you just don't want to buy another joy stick.

Anything that I'm not going to be using in combat, such as the nav point stuff, I like to keep off the controls and on the key board to reduce clutter. For example, I personally like to keep the 'inertial mode toggle' button on the key board and the 'inertial mode hold' button on the joy stick.

A Starfury cockpit then, pretty much :)

I wonder if I could convince my parents to build one before I visit...

I have the Saitek X52 Flight Control System Joystick, throttle - 10 button - PC from Saitek in Game Controllers

I have this and it works really well this game and other flight/ fighter sims :)

It's a little expensive at $ 79-80 US, But as a fighter pilot I find it well worth the cost just for the fact that it fills right only thing missing is the G-force :)

I remember playing IFH a few years ago and then earlier this year I picked it back up again for lil bit...It IS a steep learning curve but pretty fun after you spend a few hours training. I remember somehow setting up a game controller similar to the PS3s controller to play this game and that worked well for me.
This reminds me of the freespace mod "the Babylon Project" which has a much easier learning curve but the physics dont compare to IFH. I belive the people who created D&O IFH actually are working on a comercial game but I forget the name of it.

Good God, this game is HARD! I'm not used to flight sims (I tend to spend lots of time piloting giant robots, which aren't as fast as the Starfury) so I don't know much about stuff like that, but it seems to be pretty hard. I'll try to understand it this weekend, maybe I can at least beat one level or something.

Nobody ever said that flying a Starfury is easy.

I really like this game, even though I suck at fighter combat games. I am glad I can master the old Novalogic "F-16 Multirole Fighter" game.
Never tried using a joystick, but for my very very basic combat skills, keyboard and mouse worked...

I got this game too and played it for a while a huge learning curve. I use a gamepad as joysticks are usually more expensive here in AUS and take up more room on my small desk.

I have a long love affair with Logitech and Saitek game controllers and other stuff. Went looking online at what was available and I have to say it looks like the X52(some numbers are just iconic aren't they?) would fit the task quite admirably. Haven't played a good space based flight sim in a very long time. Need to reacquaint myself with Energy Maneuverabiltity Theory all over again. Being pinned to the hard deck by the Bad People with no speed, no maneuverabilty and no options is not fun. I hate being blown out of the sky by someone who saw me being stupid and took advantage.

This isn't hard. Compared to one of the other sims I have which is a helo flight sim. One of the missions in that one has you flying an OH-58D with a loadout of four Stingers and one M61A1 20mm cannon. In this little corner of paradise you are tasked with protecting an AH-64 deep strike mission from a pair of pesky fast movers. The fast movers are flying SU-24 Frogfoots and are loaded for bear. And just for fun a pair of Mi-24 Hind-Ds pop in from time to time to see how things are going. The Mission Profile demands that the attack birds make it all the way in and out. There is no such entry for your poor little Kiowa.

Sorry for the thread necro but I just had to comment as I've been an huuuuuge B5 IFH fan for nearly 2 decades now, pretty much since they started lol. If you've seen that Danger & Opportunity video on youtube of someone touring all the in-game story intro cutscenes in HD that was my video haha! Some people got angry that I didn't show more cockpit action and gameplay but other peoples videos already did plenty of that. For me it was the really cool cutscenes that I loved the most as it took me right back into the B5 universe. The 'Good Guys' addon campaign was the best example of this.

I'm sorry to confirm what you guys suspected above but yes Delta Wing, Black Omega and the original main IFH projects are dead and cancelled. Danger & Opportunity will forever be their only game now. They made the official announcement on their facebook and forums only a few months ago but everyone knew for years it was coming. I posted a RIP thread on their forums thanking them for what they were able to achieve. Such a shame! They deserved way more attention than they ever got for D&O too.
