• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I been looking around and I notice there isnt a AR Constitution Refit or AR Excelsior even attempted where people were making the AR Connie months before the movie even came out. I was just wondering if there will ever be any attempt at a model thats public release Oo

The ST:XI ships currently available are not bad. They are also first attempts at these ships. This film became a little bit of a lightning rod for controversy throughout the Community. Some hated it and were very vocal and abusive. Others liked it and are seen as heretics and blasphemers by the haters. Simply because of the furor over these ships, I suspect people who can model them or already have may be be waiting for things to quiet down a bit before releasing them. An AR Connie Refit is available for BC, done by Wiley Coyote, and available at BCFiles currently. I doubt she could be converted over though. The .nif model is too large for MS3D to import and convert to SOD format.

This is sad but true, we have lots of capable Armada modelers and porters but most of them would rather focus on the Prime Universe or are busy with their personal projects.

Now look, I have a working copy of Baz1701's AR Connie Refit for Armada 2 and if you'd like a copy Nalthren, e-mail me. It is also NOT poly reduced. Over 15,000 at last count. This is also why this hasn't been released to the public yet. I have Baz's green light but she is quite the poly heavy juggernaut.

As for the AR Excelsior, SciFiFan is working on one. I'm currently using the Carolina Class as a placeholder at the moment.

Nalthren:

I'd hyperlink if I could, but:

Jet's Star Trek (2009) Constitution Class Pack

Find that on A2Files. It's as good as they come. I'm not talking AR content, I'm talking A2 mods, period.

This ship pack changed my mind about the Ryan Church version of the Constitution. That's no small praise. I went from thinking it was a mutilation of a classic to thinking it was a Constitution in its own right. Seeing it in-game alongside her predecessors, I came to appreciate it and its place in the Trekverse, alternate or prime. I can't say that about the NX class and I've got three or four versions of it. Still looks like a dinky car.

There's also the AR Miranda available there, too.

My personal opinion on the whole Prime / AR thing is that for most modders Trek still means post-Nemesis. Once the second film comes out, if it's as enjoyable as the first (and they don't pull a Quantum Torpedo of Solace), I think attitudes towards the alternate reality will change and you'll start seeing more ships designed specifically and exclusively in AR form, or as AR versions of Prime designs (AR Ambassador or AR New Orleans would be on the top of my short list of "WANT!").

Part of it also is that everything in the AR is built off components of the Connie, with the exception of Kelvin (which we were led to believe was a Prime design taken into the AR). Just like the old Franz Joseph technical manual. AR Federation class dreadnought, anyone?

It'll all come together in time. All the A2 mods we're used to having at our fingertips ("I wonder if anyone's ever done a post-Hoshi Mirror version of the Daedalus class....") has sort of spoiled us in terms of our appreciation for just how long it takes to pull mod content together-- especially in a game where active modders are probably fewer than two or three hundred worldwide. Had they released 'Star Trek' in 1999 instead of 2009, what a difference that would've made in terms of AR content availability. (It would've also ruined the whole AR concept since Berman and Braga would've still been in charge and JJ Abrams would've still been writing episodes of Alias....)

Anyway. I'm sure there'll be an AR Excelsior soon. I can say so 'cause I want to download it when it's out there.

:D
