Nalthren:
I'd hyperlink if I could, but:
Jet's Star Trek (2009) Constitution Class Pack
Find that on A2Files. It's as good as they come. I'm not talking AR content, I'm talking A2 mods, period.
This ship pack changed my mind about the Ryan Church version of the Constitution. That's no small praise. I went from thinking it was a mutilation of a classic to thinking it was a Constitution in its own right. Seeing it in-game alongside her predecessors, I came to appreciate it and its place in the Trekverse, alternate or prime. I can't say that about the NX class and I've got three or four versions of it. Still looks like a dinky car.
There's also the AR Miranda available there, too.
My personal opinion on the whole Prime / AR thing is that for most modders Trek still means post-Nemesis. Once the second film comes out, if it's as enjoyable as the first (and they don't pull a Quantum Torpedo of Solace), I think attitudes towards the alternate reality will change and you'll start seeing more ships designed specifically and exclusively in AR form, or as AR versions of Prime designs (AR Ambassador or AR New Orleans would be on the top of my short list of "WANT!").
Part of it also is that everything in the AR is built off components of the Connie, with the exception of Kelvin (which we were led to believe was a Prime design taken into the AR). Just like the old Franz Joseph technical manual. AR Federation class dreadnought, anyone?
It'll all come together in time. All the A2 mods we're used to having at our fingertips ("I wonder if anyone's ever done a post-Hoshi Mirror version of the Daedalus class....") has sort of spoiled us in terms of our appreciation for just how long it takes to pull mod content together-- especially in a game where active modders are probably fewer than two or three hundred worldwide. Had they released 'Star Trek' in 1999 instead of 2009, what a difference that would've made in terms of AR content availability. (It would've also ruined the whole AR concept since Berman and Braga would've still been in charge and JJ Abrams would've still been writing episodes of Alias....)
Anyway. I'm sure there'll be an AR Excelsior soon. I can say so 'cause I want to download it when it's out there.
