Andromeda Ships

Over the past few years I have done a great many canon and non-canon ships from Andromeda. I have been reluctant to release them as many are not of highest quality (though a improvement over the HG minimod) and more importantly because it would require much work to get them to function in a stock Armada game or anyone eleses personal mod.

I did do a small private release to HighGuardKnight who posted a PoD on A2Files and the response was positive, so I have decided to release my collection of Andromeda ships.

This WILL NOT be an immediate release. As i said it will take time to rework the ODFs and weapons to work on anyones machines. Also there are several textures used on various ships that I did not make so permissions would need to be secured first.

I will probably release these ships in packs instead of a full mod.

The first pack will be the High Guard.

There will also be Neitzchean, Pyrian, Magog, Than, and Kalderan ships available over time.

Any questions or comments should be dircted to this thread and not my email or PM accounts. This message will be posted on AFC, A2Files and Majestic Scifi Central.

When you are ready to release them, let us know. I myself am looking forward to them.

From the sound of it, you've been doing a great job on with these.

Excellent news Rod, when I re-start Parallels up and if the models meet the min requirements in regards to poly counts I may contact you about using them in the mod.

Andromeda was a show ignored by many but not me I have the entire 5 season run on DVD.

From that POTD they look awesome and extremely well built and I look forward to this release. ;)

If you want them hosted here, by all means contact Syf or myself and we will get them up for you.

Update

No release yet but here is what I've been doing.

I've pulled the SODs and ODFs together and completed wireframes for the High Guard. I need to work out weapons and I've never built an AI for them (I tend to only play as the HG) so I will want to do that before release.

I'm doing this as i have time, but expect to here something about release in a week, maybe two.

Thanks for the update Rod.

How many ships are you planning on having in this release?

Also another question here, I hope you don't mind but what is the average poly count on these vessels?

I hadnt realised you were posting updates on here as well. its good to hear, and I'll certainly be downloading, even though I have a lot of the ships. I could use some wireframes for them :) and i'm sure theyre well done, going by what i've seen so far :)

It's still an evolving question.

At this point the pack will include, Andromeda (2 versions 1, 3000ish polies and one 7000ish polies, both work fine on my machine) by Khaliban, the DSX (Wrath of Achillies), maybe the Renewed Valour, the GDF, and Starry Wisdom, the new High Guard Cruiser from S4 as well as the DSA and two types of slipfighter. A station and yard will be included as well.

Most of the models are between 1000 and 2000 polies.

Thats great news, I can't wait.

Have you made these yourself or are they all conversions? I remember hearing the Andromeda was a conversion but not sure on the others.

The Andromeda is Khaliban's, I've poly reduced it as much as i can. There will be two versions as I said, on with a high poly count and one with a even higher poly count but better textures.

This has worked out fine on my computer which is an over 4 year old notebook, so I don't see why this would be a problem on anything but the lowest end machines.

I run the higher poly model (about 7000) with little to no trouble though I rarely build more then a handful.

And the others, did you build those ones yourself or are they from the same author as the Andromeda herself?

I may be interested in using them in Parallels (one I once again restart work on the mod) by adding a high guard race. 1/2 the work would of already have been done model wise by you. Thats of course if you gave permission to the team to use them.

Yes, the rest are mine. I'm am no certain that the all the models would be up to Parallels standards they are all my best work. But you would be welcome to them.

Show and tell time..

I've been updating some of the textures and models for the upcoming release of this addon as I wasn't happy with some of them. Just to tease a little I thought I show off the High Guard Combat fleet as it stands now.

Raptor's Claw Class Rapid Assault Frigate (non-canon)

My own design for a first generation Restored Commonwealth Starship

Righteous Fist of Heaven Deep Stand-off Attack Ship (official/non-canon)
dsa.jpg

Never seen or named on screen the DSA was part of the Allsystems.org website and so officially exists in the Andromeda universe. The design is based on the one used in the original HG mini mod.

Renewed Light Class Medium Cruiser (canon)
dsa2.jpg

Never named on screen, but seen as part of the High Guard Fleet as of season 4 often along side the Triumviral Cruiser.

Seige Perilous Class Deep Stand-off Attack Ship-II (canon)

Glorious Heritage Class Varient (canon)

Like the Renewed Valour from season 1, these ships are a varient of the traditional XMC design. I'm not certian that I will include this ship in the mod.

wow...

The ones you sent me are good, the new looks are even better, especially the DSX.
I'd include the valour varient as well, maybe make it slightly weaker than the rommie version, as it appeared to be in the show (it got shredded with far more ease than any of the times rommie got hammered) - although i must admit, i thought the valour was identical to the standard version, apart from the ships nose. i could be wrong though, its been a while since i've watched that episode - and further differences are also good for visual distinctions.

I'll be downloading the new versions too i think :)

Third from the bottom, the Seige Perilous Class is also known as the Wrath of Achilles Class. Both names were used in the series for the class.

Third from bottom. Siege Perilous class, of which the ones that appeared on screen were the balance of judgement (michael shanks as its AI), the wrath of achilles (christoper "Tea'c" judge) and the resolution of hector (christopher judge again played the ships avatar, however the ship was taken over by the judgement ai, again played by dr daniel jackson lol)

The truth is I've been working on my seaQuest mod which holds a much higher priority for me personally then getting out these Andromeda ships.

Also those are all the same models I gave you before with the slight exception of the DSX which is only mostly the same. I guess the new textures go a long way.

I'd say it will be a least another month before my fickle favours shift back to Andromeda based on past history so maybe around then.

Fair enough, you did say it'd be as and when you had time to work on it.
I must admit i've never seen seaquest (i think i maybe saw one episode... i remember a submarine with a dolphin tank on it?) so i have no idea what to expect from that.

They're the same models? crikey. i mean, some of them (the fighters) are obviously the same, as is the retextured DSA2 (which i remember seeing initially on the thread on AFC) but the others look very different, particularly the DSX and 'the seek to find' class. like i said, they were already good, now theyre even better. I'm shocked by how different "The Seek; To Find" class looks...

good work man, astonishing even...

It is impressive - very impressive.
I wasnt sure when u said they were the same models lol. but the new one is quite different, shorter wings and at a slight angle too - both varients work well, since i think they had two varients of it in andromeda anyway.
its looks da bomb

Rod,
As I have said u have some fantastic work there.
I have told you before that I wish to start an Andromeda mod, do you have any ships which I could use (obviously credit and such would be given solely to yourself!)
