• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

OK, I noticed this while working on Wastelands: A few secs after I fire up an A2 game, the left and upper border of the screen get this 1px line of yellowish garbage. I've seen this in other old games before and it's probably a problem with my nvidia chip, but since it affects A2 I thought someone else might have encountered that before. Remind me to post a screeny laterz. If anybody has any kind of advice, I'd really appreciate it. I can't really go on with my A2 work until this is fixed (which probably includes having a word with my graphics card - curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal, chip!)

That really sucks mate, are you using the 1.2.5 patch? As it could be a running issue due to the age of the game and the patch can help fix some issues.

If you are and it's still playing up see if running FO does the same thing, if it doesn't you can actually by using the new mod feature download and install a stock mod that turns the game back to stock for you, which you can then mod into. Just some ideas for you as a work around.

I get that sometimes on my copy of FO too. As far as I know, if it is an issue with your card, update your drivers. That usually fixes any problems I"ve seen with an nvidia card.

I believe this actually occurs with all chipsets and is due more to the flawed Dx8 implementation - it's just more visible on some maps than others. FO has this too in my experience as the directx implementation is not yet updated to dx9 (only improved).

OK everyone, I've found the problem. It seems that A2 does not like the Anti-Aliasing of my graphics card. :x

Disabling AA leads to a slightly pixelish, but glitch-free game.

Maybe the FO devs can do something about that in the future?

Is the Anti-Aliasing setting on your card only On or Off? Is there a way to turn on only some of the AA features? I've had this happen once or twice on my ATI Radeon vidcard. I was able to "tune it out" but it took some doing and I had to make some adjustments to the game's config and art files as well.

It does have a number of different settings and features, but I have tried only a few up to now and without success. I will continue to try to find a working configuration. Do you still remember which changes you made to the game files? I may need to do the same.

Yes, in the future a dx9 render will be implemented to remove these (and other) problems.
