• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Congratulations, comrade.

Actually.... considering that MSFC existed even before its current "reincarnation" and you were active there as well, your post count is much, much higher :D

Just remember - its the quality, not the quantity that counts....;)

(it just so happens you tend to post quality in quantity...)

Think it goes like this Cabal :)

For he's a evil Sith Lord, for he's a evil Sith Lord,
for he's a evil Sith Lord (hold then pause), which nobody can defy,
which nobody can defy, which nobody can defy
For he's a evil Sith Lord, for he's a evil Sith Lord,
for he's a evil Sith Lord (hold then pause), which nobody can defy!

Congrats HK. You are correct. You had a few down times that have prevented you from being able to post.

Now to see if you can catch me... 7200+ and counting.:p

Ooooh! just had to throw a challenge such this into the mix, did we? I have decided you can be defied because I can bribe people to do so with all the Thin Mint cookies I bought from the Girly-Girl Scout!

Come the the Light Side! Defy the Dark! We have the cookies everyone wants!

Kidding aside, 3,000 posts on any website is a commendable thing. As well as excellent proof someone has way waay too much free time, lol. Didn't realize Fighter Pilot Gen'ruls in the Air Farce led such a life of leisure, lol. Now you done gone and told on yourself. So Northrop Grumman knows not to hire you as a consultant. Hah!

Congrats, Sir!

Yes they make the C-130 Hercules as well as F-16 Falcon, F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II

You fighter pilot wannabe of a ground pounder

That I happen to call a friend :)

Wouldn't have traded my Abrams for any of those rickety, tempermental, overly computerized flying machines you mention. Cavalry Trooper is the correct term of address, not ground pounder. Master Gunner as well. HUA!!

Had a pair of F-16s make a run on my platoon during the First Gulf War. I guess good target ID isn't high up on the priorities list some days. My kettenhunde(wing tank) happened to be looking in the right direction and got a ballistic solution because the jet jock was boring straight in, no jinking. I must confess to a certain curiosity as to what would have happened if SSG Joel Blackthorne had decided to fire. M829A1 APFSDU at 1,700 metres per second is a little larger than the usual Golden BB.

They pulled off target for some unknown reason at the last second, thank goodness. But for the rest of the war, 2d Platoon did not have very many nice things to say about either the S3-Air or the ALOs. We would have been delighted to give the Vehicle ID class the next time as well. Ain't no way some college educated flyboy ought to mistake an Abrams for anything else on the battlefield. But they were probably late for drinks back at the O Club and didn't want to return to base without empty racks.

That one thing I will not joke about the old I.D. Sys was buggy at times at lest and sometimes the data were transfer was out of date and add to AWAC was prone to human error. coupled with the fact no branch use the same systems and there was a translations lag.

Today at lest we have better friend or foe systems Blue force tracker Ect.

Blue Force Tracker screen of Baghdad Airport ( from training stimulator )
3586685752_360ba4e03f.jpg

Blue Force Tracking systems consist of a computer, used to display location information, a satellite terminal and satellite antenna, used to transmit location and other military data, a Global Positioning System receiver (to determine its own position), command-and-control software (to send and receive orders, and many other battlefield support functions), and mapping software, usually in the form of a Geographic information system (GIS), that plots the BFT device on a map. The system displays the location of the host vehicle on the computer's terrain-map display, along with the locations of other platforms (friendly in blue, and enemy in red) in their respective locations. BFT can also be used to send and receive text and imagery messages, and Blue Force Tracking has a mechanism for reporting the locations of enemy forces and other battlefield conditions (for example, the location of mine fields, battlefield obstacles, bridges that are damaged, etc.). Users will include the United States Army, the United States Marines Corps, the United States Air Force and the United Kingdom. Recently, the United States Army, the United States Marines Corps have reached agreement to standardize on a shared system, to be called "Joint Battle Command Platform", which will be derived from the Army's FBCB2 system that was used by the United States Army, the United States Marines Corps, and the Army of the United Kingdom during heavy combat operations in Iraq in 2003.

We've kinda wandered far from topic here. But I've always felt rather strongly we've placed the guy in the 600 mph hotrod just on the other side of saturation point when it comes to things to do while shooting at bad guys. No matter how smart he is, or how well trained he is, there just isn't enough brain power or processing time for all the things he is required to do to deliver his ordnance successfully in support of the mud bugs. Anything which eases his workload is a plus. Glad to see somethings are getting sorted out.

Waay too much Blue on Blue in '91. Of course, I take the viewpoint even one such incident is waay too much. We never had this problem with USMC CAS. The guys over in 3d (Grey Wolves) Brigade, 1st Cav, which was seconded to MARCENT, had zero problems with 'friendly' airstrikes. And those Jarhead pilots would drop the whole load right on the other side of the Danger Close line if asked to.

Technically that is incorrect, all active members at the time of the transfer to vBulletin, had their posts from the previous incarnations incorporated into what we have today. If I was to do a mainteance sweap on the site in the user post department mine alone with drop by almost 4,000 posts.

However you are correct in regards to the versions before the old forumup site that we were with for a while. I did not include the very early versons of the site, only the past two before we moved to vBulletin.
