A vessel from the expanded universe, the Gladiator class was based off the Broadside design and was considered a pocket Star destroyer due to it's appearance and the fact that it could accommodate a reasonable fighter compliment.
Used mainly for patrol duties where a larger cruiser or star destroyer wasn't cost effective, Gladiator's were often found in combat against pirates and rebels where they were often task with defending small Imperial outposts, facilities and shipping lanes.
