• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Nearly finished the Wyvern. Just need some modifications to the neck and maybe a few tweaks to the textures and then I'm calling it done.
No idea why the neck went a little funny on the side render.

Thank you. One day I may reverse engineer it back into a regular Excelsior. But at least I have some new Excelsior nacelles to play with.

The ventral view of the engineering section reminds me of designs from either Seaquest DSV or Babylon 5.

Yikes. No reason you can't gush about how great all of the standard Excelsior attributes look, just yeah, leave out your impression of the Andromeda/Orville arc in the back of the ship.

If the customer asks about that...well...

I decided to try and do something with my Excelsior, so I decided to make an Ambassador competitor.
I'm keeping the stepping on the lower hull, but I've removed the aft bulges and added a spine, so it's another round of uv mapping this mesh to look forward to...

The model is great kjc, it kinda reminds me of the Proxima Class a little bit.

Well, it has 4 nacelles but it doesn't have the double secondary hull.
Changed some of the physical details, the most obvious being the raised spine (and spinal recesses), the escape pods and the phaser arrays. I'm trying to go for an Ambassador era vibe, so the strips are small and I'll be pouring over Ambassador pictures to figure out what detailing I need to apply.
Oh, yeah, and the bussards are now red. Big change that, took aaaaages to do. :lol2:

Now the big question is what to call it. I did consider Wilbur, but thought it didn't really suit.

(And ignore the paint scheme on the secondary hull, I havent remapped it yet)

She's coming along nicely, the red bussards really make her shine and feel era appropriate.

Thank you.
And I finally decided to name my unnamed SSN Sceptre.

Love the Sceptre.

Sigh, I miss Seaquest. Such promise that series had and ended so ugh.

I didn't mind season 3 so much, but season 2 was terrible (with one or two exceptions). It went from being science heavy to bad grade science fiction with sea monsters and aliens.
Anyway, maybe you'll like the Swiftsure, another boat I've slowly been working on.

The first season with Roy Scheider was the best, after they switched gears with the time displacement stuff and new crew it sort of went downhill bit by bit. I disliked their "series finale".

And yes please, show me the Swiftsure whenever it is done, love to see it.

First look at the Swiftsure, seaQuests baby sister.

Some progress.
Not looking forward to UV mapping this. My UEO bioskin shows up any and every distortion in the map, so it has to be done properly. No shortcuts and disguises :(
I may shrink her down a little as I want her to be more SSN than SSBN.

That looks fantastic kjc, oh how I would have loved to use that alongside Westworld's defunct Naval Armada TC.

And first pass with the bioskin. Some modification required but not bad for the first go.

There was a guy working on a seaQuest mod a loooong time ago, he was actually suing some of the old ADSV designs. Had models for the UEO, Macs and even some Choadai. As with may mods, it sort of faded away. Part of the difficulty is making a good sea texture. The other difficulty is the rather small fan base for such a mod.
Anyway, Swiftsure texturing is pretty much done, now to add in physical details. At 500ft long she's a rather large SSN, but still half the size of the seaQuest. 5 VPMs mean 35 cruise missiles, plus 9x 21 inch autoloading tubes and two small hanger bays for launches. I'm debating adding a few windows, I hate the idea of it but she looks a little plain without them.
