• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hiya all I have released an update to Fleet Operations 3.2.7 using the Fleet Operations 4 launcher that was released with the final version of Sigma. For those who dont know FO4 allows the use of xml techtrees, dds textures, normal mapping for bump maps (to be used with dds textures) and new odf stuff such as codes to allow ships to swap 1 texture depending on the ship name (used for hull registries).

As far as I am aware this should all be working ok but I do need testers to report back any bugs so I can fix them.

My plans for the future of this modification is to expand on the current races such as adding hull registries to the Federation, improve Borg assimilation and add a leveling element to the collective. I also plan on adding new races such as Cardassians, Sra'Xa'Diin (a unified races of Undine [Species 8472] and Noxter [FO2 race]) and possibly a Breen race (replacing the Breen from the dominion avatar with Son'a)

Any way here is the FO thread containing the mod install FO3.2.7 and then install this over it (it overrights some core files)
https://www.fleetops.net/forums/modscompleted/fo4-sortta-13103

or if you just want the installer

Thank you for carrying on with it. Will you post updates here as well as at FO forums?

Hello:
Last time I spoke to Blade things were like hectic, that isn why there has been no news as of yet, but there is an intention to return to the FO4 project (since the FleetOps dev team work on the totally new NX project).

Me neither, so I guess we'll have to keep waiting, although I haven't visited the FO forums in ages.

I'm not holding out hope. I'll believe it when I see actual progress and news releases that look like the project is converging on a release and not feature creep.

Agreed, until we see some real tangible results, the FO devs only have their PR hot air. I think its fine and dandy to be *ambitious*. But developing a game engine from scratch is no laughing matter. I'd rather have a working FO 4 with some compromises/limitations rather than NX vaporware.

Things like basic screencaps, 3d model WIPs, etc. should be enough. But they insist on their "muh secrecy". I've seen more honest, credible progress in Husker's DS9R project compared to NX, that should be telling enough.

Oh that's a nice compliment!
I learn a bit to handle with the unreal engine and that isn't easy, also with engine.

Yeah, it's sad that the project is so quiet. I agree with Jetfreak, showing at least a bit of WIP would be great and keep people interested in FleetOps.

All the secrecy is an awful rememberance of mods like "Battlestar Armada" and a very interesting mod for Armada1 which name I don't recall right now, none of them were ever completed.

Yeah, I think it was Future Tense. Not sure if that one is still been worked on, but oh boy they had a secrecy back in the day.

I think there is occasional work, but I'm not sure. I think most of the discussion was on AFC a while back.

Is AFC still online? I haven't gone there in ages, specially as I was always mad at them because they never posted my first mod... I was sure I followed all of their rules and stuff o_O .
