I like it. I don't recall if you mentioned this, but are you going to go the FO route with this one and make it a freighter that converts into a warship if needed?

I am hopeful that I can make this happen yes. Would make sense considering it's a converted warship.

Definitely agree that the Legacy D3 was way out whack. It's a vast improvement, and well thought out with the freighter extras.

Maj those Klingons look good, only the texture is not what i expected from you. The hullplating looks like its only painted on, not raised like it should. Or do you plan to simulate this with bump-maps? The model you used for the D3 is that of the Legacy Predator, and that is the FASA D-4 cruiser.;)

I already found out that the Legacy Predator model is a mix of two FASA ships, the K24 Escort ( has its head and primary hull) and the D-4 ( has its neck and name).

Ah thanks mate, I'll correct the naming for the mod.
Yeah I am hoping to do bump maps for all the models in the mod. I am jump pumping out the ships in MS3D atm. I am planning to hardpoint everything in 3Ds Max so I can do animations and the like.

Yeal Legacy was bad for using FASA designs incorrectly. I put it down to artistic licence though.

Hey all, been a while.
I've been trying to get back into modelling and modding. I haven't been able to dedicate a lot of time to it and have been spliting my time between finishing off the models for Star Wars AGC and Yesteryears.

However I have managed to get a little bit done. The first new completed model for Yesteryears is the Klingon Warfang Fighter. Design by Hellkite, original model by KJC and this low poly rebuild is by me.

Warfang.png

In Yesteryears it serves as part of the Imperial space defense stationed on board the boarder outpost station.

Thanks all, working on some stations now. Almost have 3 completed modelling wise. Hopefully I'll have them all modelled in a few days then I only need to texture them. :)

I also did a small texture update to the Klingons making their hulls a little more green rather then just the grey. I think it's an improvement.

I agree with that. I alwas used an olive green for my own models.

I think that both colors look good to be honest. While I know that Klingon ships seem to be more popular in a green color scheme, I admit that I have a huge soft spot for the grey because it looks more TOS/TMP-ish. Green has always seemed more post TNG-ish to me.

Nevertheless, I think either or could be the pride of the Klingon fleet Maj, they are looking very menacing.

Thanks mate. I have 4 ships in various stages of texturing, plus another 2 that are complete modelling. With any luck you'll all see a few Klingon ships blast through these pages in the next few weeks. :)

Hey Maj, is your Klingon fleet going to include historical ships in lesser roles, ex. like a D-6 or D-5 as a Destroyer? Or is the fleet going to contain original designs made by you (Aside from the D-7 and bop)?

Where are you getting your inspiration for your designs? The 3 silhouettes I saw a few pages back look terrific.

My inspiration comes from various sources, including Star Trek Legacy/FASA, other artists like WickedZombie, Axanar, plus good old Majesticized designs etc.

The Klingon fleet will be made up of older designs much more than the Federation. While I am trying to steer clear of ENT designs as much as possible as they don't really fit with my feel for the mod I do have some older designs coming up. A few are FASA/Legacy designs, although modified by me to fit better imo.

Okay that sounds great.

I understand that ENT had some fairly looking futuristic ships for just about everybody, no way was that Romulan Warbird an ancestor to the one from Balance of Terror, but I admit I did like the design that Drexler came up with for the D-4...I know it's basically a D-7 with crappier engines, but man do I love the damn D-7. LOL.

I like many of the designs for FASA ships, great pool to mine from and Axanar's D-6 is a beauty. Am, some FASA ships however have the same effect for me as the Discovery Klingon ships. Lol.

I very much look forward to seeing what you can Majesticize for the Klingons AND the Romulans. Don't forget them pointy eared hobgloblins! Seeing the trifecta from TOS/TMP (Fed, Kling, Rom) is what I'm looking forward to seeing the most.

The Romulans, Gorn and Kzinti will eventually be done.

FASA I am taking inspiration not copying their designs. When it comes to ship designs I am rather particular about how they look.

I should have a few Klingon designs showing up on these pages over the next few weeks. I have 2 designs I am texturing now, 1 that is partially mapped and another that is almost completed with it's modelling and just needs to be mapped. So that's 4 ships that should be completed this coming month. Just takes time, especially texturing them.

I also have 2 BOP's completed with their modelling but I want to do all the destroyers together so I'll be waiting until after I have modelled the other destroyers.

I usually don't show WIP ships, I prefer to show them completed unless I am asking for input on a design or need some help with the design process that usually members like @Hellkite are invaluable in providing. :)

The 2 cruisers, assault cruiser and command cruiser will be here soon. ;)

We have a new ship for the fleet! Qa'Pla warriors.

Well an old ships refitted. :lol2:

D6.png D6_Ortho.png

In universe
Introducing the D6 cruiser, an old design first entering service 100 years ago, the D6 has received various upgrades and refits over the years to keep it modern and up to date. Once a ship of the line the D6 almost brought the Federation to its knees during the 4 years war, it was also the ship that made first contact with the Federation.

The D6 was refitted in the 2280's with K't'inga nacelles and technology that was introduced in the K't'inga upgrade of the old Koloth D7 class, this has kept the D6 in service. The upgrade was done when war with the Federation looked as a real possibility before the Praxis incident.

About the model
I made the model based off KJC's model. I wanted a model that was an upgraded version of the Axanar D6, something that fitted in the post Praxis/Khitomer Accords era.
I almost completely rebuilt KJC's model and added my own textures as per usual. KJC's model is more accurate to the Axanar version while mine has my own flare and added feel look to fit in with my fleet.
The model came in at under 4,000 poly's and will serve as a mid to high level cruiser similar in position to the Miranda in the Federation fleet.

I like that ship. Reminds me of the BoP from ENT which was too futuristic in my opinion and the older K'tinga. Very cool. It's great to see you back here as well.

Wicked awesome to see the D6 Maj! I love that ship.

It's funny but when I saw Prelude to Axanar I felt that the D6 looked much more powerful than the D7.

It's the curse of the retroactive prequel designs, they always end up looking much more advanced than what was done in previous series.

I mean just take a look at STD, the Shenzhou's Walker Class looks like a a fricking TMP version of the Akira.

Thanks mate, I haven't forgotten about the Star Wars models either just haven't been in a Star Wars mood. With the new movie upcoming I am sure that will change and I can knock the remaining models out. :)

Hey, if it ain't broke...

That's the Klingon philosophy right there. :)

Yeah that's the issue with prequels aye. A reason the series should look forward not backwards. The D6 was designed to blend the D5 from ENT and D7 from TOS to be a step between the two which I feel works. I still feel the D5 was more suited for a post TNG era.

It's a reason the D5 won't show up in Yesteryears.

Not a new ship just yet, got 1 at about 95% textured so expect that within the next few days.

I have however done another texture update on the Klingon fleet, which I think is a fast improvement over what I previously had.

KDF_text_update.png

Fighter not to scale obviously. :lol2:

Opinions?

EDIT: Designs in detail.

Hehe, for a moment I thought that "giant" fighter was a variant of the unused D-4 bird of prey design from Into Darkness.

I think the fleet is looking great, ready to roll out and conquer for the might of the empire! I'm guessing they're gonna give those tree hugging hippies in the Federation lots of wrinkly foreheaded trouble.

Looking forward to seeing what else they have up their sleeve.

The newest model for the Klingons, the K17 Stal'Ka, known simply as the Stalker by the Federation.
An older design, the Stalker is a low-mid range cruiser.

K17.png

Klingons.png

Originally a FASA design, the model was originally made for Star Trek Legacy, however I modified the design extensively to suit how I feel the ship should look. A lot of work went into the texturing of this model, more than I was happy with hence why it took so long to complete, as I kept going to other designs and modelling them to take a break from this model.

She's complete now and ready to serve for the glory of your house. :)
