• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Thanks for the response kjc733!

I realize these excellent ships are from Axanar, which I'm hoping very much will get it's full feature, LOVED the Prelude. I meant that I thought that the general designs were inspired by the fleet in the 2009 film. The differences are very clear and they fit the Prime universe lovely.

I have the AR Connie pack and the Spacedock. There was a Kelvin and family pack and a Kelvin and Proxima pack, which are good, but they don't have as much details in their textures. In any case, they'll do. :thumbsup:

If anyone does want to make the Vengeance though I won't complain. :lol2:

Guys is there any way to make A1 stock models look better?? They look great when you zoom a little bit, but how to make them better in 'normal' view, especially Galaxy class??

It is because of the LOD or Level of Detail. It is designed so that as you zoom out it uses a lower poly version of the model. This is so that if you have a lot of models on your screen, it limits that lag that you may encounter. You would have to modify the sod file and get rid of the lower LOD models.

any advice how to do it?? i suppose it has to be done in 3ds max??

It can be done in any program that can import and export the sod format. Milkshape can import stock sod but not custom. I do not know if 3ds max have a sod importer/exporter.

You can also open up ART_CFG.h, look for the line 'float DETAIL_1_LOD_0_DISTANCE', and add some zeroes to that and the other lines. They should be numbered 0-3 for A2, or 0-2 for A1, and all in a block. That should be a universal override for what distance from the camera the models are switched out.

Does anyone know if there are any textured low-poly models of any of the following ships from canon?

- Flaxian Starship
- DS9 Intro Freighter
- Boslic Cargo Vessel
- Amagosa Facility/Wormhole Relay Station
- Whorfin Class (Transports from Generations)
- Retellian Freighter
- Mondor (aka Akamarian/Trill/Satarran/Kostolain)
- Fraddock's Transport from Cold Front
- Mazarite Ship (I know it's part of a D'Deridex, but still)
- Mars Defense Perimeter ship/Soliton Wave Rider
- Apollo-class Vulcan Ship
- Lysian Sentry Pod/Kelsey's Ship/Varad's Ship

Most of these can be found in the studio models on Memory Alpha if you're not sure what these are.

I've found good stand-ins for the Bajorans, I think the Ds9 intro freighter was similar:

I also have a BC version of Amargosa, but I think its way high poly.

The Mazarite could be bashed from an existing Warbird, Neon's or Maj's STL port could be good "donor" models.

The freighter I'm thinking of was the one seen from under with the blue nacelle or something glows. The ones shown docked at the station in the next shot were a distinct studio model, as was said freighter. You did find me a good model of the Pakled ship though, so thanks for that and the other two as well!

So, here's an interesting one. On his Facebook, Rick Sternback just posted a concept drawing of a Bajoran scout ship that was never used in the show. Looks pretty sweet, and there's never been a model of it.

well is not ship request, it's weapon request..
Tell me is it possible to create special weapon for Armada 1 that would spawn ship?? E.g. I was messing little bit with this custom made special weapon which spawns dilithium moon...

Instead of moon I modified files to spawn ship, however spawned ships have team set to zero and you can't control them...Perhaps, game "thinks" that spawned ship is map object or special weapon, because both of before mentioned have team 0 and everything with team set to 0 cant be controlled...
So, basically i'm asking how spawned ships can be same team as you are and can be controlled too?? Thanks for help in advance!!

What you say is correct. I'm not sure about A1 but in A2 the spawned objects are "neutral" in that they will shoot at anyone. It's this system that formed the basis of my BSG HRM nuclear weapon (and also flak) which means the weapon is equally damaging to friends and foe alike (as a nuke would be). It's a shame because this would be the holy grail for carrier combat in Armada.

Moving on, another piccy for Hellkite. I took some artistic liberty with the impulse engines, hope you don't mind. As you can see, the uv mapping is pretty much done and I've started on the textures. Of course I am splitting my time between this and the BoP...

It is kind of akward for me to post in this thread cause i am noob and i don't know anything about making models but i like adding them to my armada 2... that being said, has anyone ever made klingon D4 patrol ship from "Into the darkness"? I like shuttle/runabout/fighter sized ships as i alway modify AI to make them in great numbers...
